After allmost finishing the whole best of 2020 video, over the last couple of days...
I must say...i dont know.
Or more like...No...this wasnt a good year...(for me)

This is Bellator Best of 2020...
8hrs 20min long...

...how many great Fights have you seen over the past year in BellatorMMA?

...apart from Fortune getting sparked out?

It was a shitty year for fights in Bellator tbh.

I'm not sure why as the matchmaking on paper was actually better this year.

I don't think it was a very good year.

Outside of tournament setting up matches everything else feels just thrown together with little thought besides a complete obvious match up. More or less like every year lately.

They lost a massive form of revenue with Dazn deal. They got moved to a channel that barely anyone knows about. Bellator didn't do a damn thing to even promote the move. That is absolutely ridiculous on every level. Look when the UFC switches channels. They make a damn event about it and make sure everyone knows about it. Bellator can't even reach MMA fans who post on forums about the move.

Honestly cant even remember and thats the problem with Bellator. Not that they dont have good fights/events they just are mostly forgettable.

It was okay.

My top 3 anticipated fights were...

#01: Cyborg vs. Budd - Delivered
#02: McKee vs. Caldwell - Very short
#03: Chandler vs. Benson - Very Short

Other names the stuck out were Juan Archuleta, Sergio Pettis, and Patrício Freire. Great rebound year for Aaron Pico too.

Main two fights that stood out was Nemkov vs Badar and McKee vs Caldwell

Bellator improved their matchmaking by a mile, but somehow they have the shittiest luck. Hopefully they continue to improve this year, they are still light-years away from the UFC's matchmaking.

They did OK but that is the thing, you cant do just OK if you are trying to catch up to the premier organization. They need to have a series of banger years but for that they need to improve on a couple of key aspects (production, matchmaking, marketing, planning) because having a good roster isnt good enough.

Nemkov vs Bader, Gracie vs Fitch, Cyborg vs Budd, Chandler vs Benson, Sanchez vs Weichel, Magomedov vs Mattos, Amosov vs Storley, Archuleta vs Mix come to mind as great fights in from the main cards.

Mousasi vs Lima, MVP vs Houston, Macfarlane vs Velasquez come to mind as huge disappointments. I dont count Kongo vs Johnson because I dont think anyone expected that fight to be good.

It was a decent year all things considered. Nothing stands out too much.

Fedor was the only fighter I wanted to watch all year and it never happened....so, no.

Watching McKee in the tournament has been about the only good thing in Bellator this year.

That and Nemkov scorching Bader.

Otherwise it was a rough year for sure.
