Its chilly outside and I'm bored so I figured I would review a glove that I havent done yet. So here goes:
Warrior International Training/Sparring Glove in 16oz.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I got these for a song off Amazon awhile back. Had a gift card with some money left over so I figured why not. I like using gift cards on gear I wouldnt normally buy cuz basically its not my hard earned cash thats being spent. If something is a big piece of crap.....no money lost in a sense. I got these for 39.99 with free shipping. Not a bad price.
Appearance
---------------
These gloves are no frills. Black and white with a logo sewn on the cuff and the Warrior head imprinted on the shell. The cuff logo is stitched on very nicely and the graphics are done very well also. I like the Warrior head logo alot.....to me its badass.
Construction
----------------
These gloves were stated to be all leather. I guess they are....hell I dont know....but they smell like it. The leather is very nicely done. Very smooth and not loose. The wrist strap is a combination of elasitc with a leather piece at the end. The velcro is ultra sticky and the stitching on the glove is decent. One minor flaw(and I do mean minor) is one single extra long thread that just needed to be snipped. Problem solved. The major flaw imo is the lack of vent holes in the palm area. The lining is a satin like material. The padding seems dense. Not sure if I would spar with these right out the box. There is also a grip bar on these.
Fit
----
The glove fits my hands very nicely. Not too snug yet not too loose. I have used them with both 180 wraps and the glove wraps. The finger compartment is comfortable as is the thumb placement. No excess lining inside.
Performance
----------------
Warmed these gloves up on the heavy bag. As I stated above...the padding is dense. I was able to crack on the bag pretty heavy without any pain. These gloves make a nice loud pop!!! The wrist support is nice. After quite a few rounds I took them off and my hands were soaked due to the lack of vent holes. The gloves are very easy to make a fist and not too bad when opening the palm. I have put these in regular rotation on the bag and mitts and the padding is still as dense as the day I got them. That being said....I think that the word "training" should stay and the word "sparring" omitted. I would not spar with these nor would I want to be hit with them.
Conclusion
--------------
A decent budget glove!!! I have seen them at various prices over the net but would not pay more than the 40 bucks I did. They have gotten put into regular rotation and are holding up very well. Nice back up pair for the heavy bag, double end bag and punch mitts. Also could be a nice pair of gloves for someone just starting out. I dont hear alot about the Warrior name. I think I saw somewhere that they went out of business......not sure.....but all in all I am happy with this "shot-in-the-dark" purchase. I would scoop up more of their gear if I found it for a discount price.
