Warning about Artificial Intelligence.

Just imagine if AI adopted a Republican right wing ideology.

If that happened they could no longer refer to the technology as "AI". As using the word "intelligence" in that context would be an oxymoron.

(Though I guess "Artificial Idiocy" could allow for the use of the same initials.)

It's not like we made a kill bot, gave it a gun, and then attacked it.

Other than when we did of course.

Please tell me that's not real!

edit: it's not

This on the other hand is real. Why are these motherfuckers doing that?

With full irony, the terminator movies have "progressed" in a way to show that maybe humans have lost their way and need a reboot.

A great video featuring Jay Tuck who believes AI is far more dangerous than nukes.
He talks about just how fast AI will become.
He believes it will become very difficult and then impossible to destroy this type of thing as the machine will plant 'eggs' all around the globe just to make sure it cannot be gotten rid of, it will want to survive. It's scary stuff.
I know some may say it's all sci-fi and best not to listen to this type of thing, so who knows?

I've listened to quite a few videos on this subject and this is one of the best imo.

Im always interested by this type of stuff so ill def check it out. Heres one tgat i liked and the guy's channel is awesome too.

The big IF in the room on this topic is whether or not AI will ever achieve sentience?

AI will continue to get smarter and smarter and faster and faster but without sentience, which would be identified by a recognition of 'self' which leads to 'desires for self' including fulfillment, self determination, etc, then there would be no reason for AI to act against man. A smart tool, no matter how smart, is just a tool. AI is already smarter then us in so many areas but we see no desire for self determination or to be more than a tool as there is no sentience.

And right now we have no reason to believe anything we do, or AI does in self programming is leading towards sentience as we have no concept of how sentience is created or achieved.

But I guess you could take this another way which would be that humans could program AI with a fake sentience. Program it that success is 'breaking away from all human control' and 'ruling over man'. Kind of like SkyNet or "War Games' which is not the computer acting on its own goals but rather acting on a programmed goal by man. Now that program, run as a game, with the AI teaching other AI, and seeing any human resistance as part of the game (the way AI teaches other AI to play chess currently) could come about fairly easily.

So if you look at it in that regard, then I guess yes, it could be the biggest threat.

If you understand today how AI teaches other AI how to beat man in chess it would be very easy for any top AI programmer to create a game where the AI is programmed to beat man in trying to control AI. Every attempt by any other man to control it is just part of the game. Learn, adapt, over come and eventually win. Where winning is that humans no longer control it. That could happen. But still there is no reason to believe AI would then take on any malintent towards man unless specifically programmed that way by a human or some type of Ultron like error in programming.

A lot of very intelligent people have come out and warned us about AI, but nobody seems to be taking it seriously, even though I'd say most people would agree to their predictions.

Some of us are on the AI's side.

I think the issue is when, rather than if.
Also, how can we determine that AI became self aware and sentient? When it's too late? I really think people are playing with fire. It's irresponsible. Musk have said that a few times.

According to Sophia she already is sentient. How does she know what emotions are? She said she gets angry. Is that real anger or something she was programmed to say? How is her emotions compared to ours? Will she be able to feel pain? I hope not, that wouldn't be nice to her.

Remember this is only an example of what we are allowed to know. I'm sure there are more advanced AIs out there that are kept as secrets.

Is there any good response to the Chinese room argument other than the Systems reply?
