Ward-Kovalev fight Nov 19th in Vegas (HBO PPV)

For me this fight is more PPV worthy than Canelo/GGG. I will buy both, no doubt, but this one, on paper, should be very competitive.
 
This fight seems like a hardcore's ppv to me. Don't think it'll do very well with the casual fanbase. Great fight but Ward doesn't have the pull that you'd expect from an American Gold medal Olympian and hasn't been in the spotlight for awhile now anyway. Kovalev known well by boxing fans but he doesn't seem to have made the transition as well to the casuals like a guy like GGG has. Ppv most likely won't do as well as it should but definitely ppv worthy, no doubt.

I don't agree that every time two good fighters fight that it should be PPV.

It's definitely a good fight, I'm just disappointed its a PPV. Thats just me though. My days of buying every PPV that floats down the pipe are over.

I don't either. Honestly, I don't really like the whole concept of PPV, at least not for the prices they charge. I rarely buy PPVs because I think $60+ to watch something on television is crazy.

But there are so few quality PPVs on the horizon. GGG vs Canelo looks like it will not happen this year. Anybody else they fight is certainly not PPV worthy. May and Pac are gone, Cotto is basically retired. This will probably be the only purchase-worthy PPV in the next 12 months, and it's definitely better than the last several PPVs (Canelo-Khan, Pac-Bradley 3, Floyd-Berto) and it's better than the Crawford-Postol PPV. Not that some of those aren't good fights, they were, but not really what you expect for the big bucks.
 
Don't expect much for PPV numbers. These are two P4P guys who are certainly PPV quality. They don't really draw though.

I don't. Just saying if you were willing to pay for Floyd Berto but not Sergei vs Ward, kind of crazy don't you think?

Sergei vs Ward are two prime guys and undefeated.

I agree that it sucks having to pay for ppv for big fights but that's the only way you can generate the money to pay both guys.

I'm down for any bets, straight up $100 at least (US dollars) saying Ward over Kovalev (I'm saying Ward over Kovalev, to clarify). RR can vouch for me (or hold the money if it comes to that), but I've seen a lot of people all active on Kovalev. Now it's put up or shut up.

No, like I said before Berto/Floyd, it was a mismatch and it was really only for Floyd fans. Sort of like how you managed to muster excitement for Pacs mismatch PPVs than no one else gave a shit about.

I don't really care for Andre Ward. Kovalev is decent but I'm not really a hardcore fan. Its just going to be Ward stalling and mauling his way to an easy decision win.
 
This a a great fight I hope they hire a good circus barker to help the caual fans know this is an amazing fight , one of the greatest in this year
