Here are the reasons given:

  • He was reported so much "it was almost a daily event that involved multiple staff members"
  • He said someone was gay...because this is libel.
  • He is guilty of increasing toxic trolling, but we can't site any posts
  • Banned for spam, but no example given
  • He used the same AV when he came back
  • He announced that it was him when he came back
  • Multiple users were complaining daily
  • It was cumulative

I think Rip deserves another shot because HomerThompson got another shot.
IIRC, Homer tried to pull some shenanigans with harassing the parent company (Crave Online) or something like that. That's way worse than what Rip allegedly did. If Homer is allowed to come back, Rip should be too.

I didn't say anything about him having multiple accounts, although his "fairy" thread is all I need as proof of his trolling.
I spelt out why his last account wasn't permitted, and that's because you don't go using the same/similar user name or avatar and announcing your return if you are banned.
The first time Rip left he wasn't banned, he asked for his account to be deleted, which was why he was allowed back and his account was edited to have the same name.
As I understand it he left because of his buddies getting banned for their attempts to disrupt the forum. And if he wasn't spreading all the nonsense about what happened to his account, he certainly wasn't correcting anyone.
When he was allowed back he continued along the same line of whinging about that moderation until it got to the point he was just stirring up trouble making up nonsense about "gay leftist mods" coming after him. At which point he was banned.
The only reason any of that group of posters are allowed back is if they demonstrate they can participate in the forum without those issues.
Hence Hognoxious currently being on a very, very short leash, and hence why all this is likely to have the exact opposite effect of what I assume is intended (unless it's just an excuse for the usual persecution complex).

If I'm not mistaken, any scenario that you arrange the hats will have a situation where only one person has all the information they need to make the correct decision.

So if he comes back with a different avatar, and doesn't announce his return, he can come back?
 
You guys really should hold off at this point. We’ve all heard the question/ request and were/ are looking into it. Doing this thing where I get multiple tags and PMs makes the whole thing feel coordinated and seeing coordination over a user who was close to all the issues the purge included is not a great way to get this handled.

Just because he had a fairy thread over 3 years ago isn't enough.

He was a cool dude ...and just for the record, I disagreed with him more than I agreed with him.

but he added an extra flare to the Sherdog Community. and frankly, it's more about him being unjustly banned than anything else.

if he posted porn, or tried to doxx someone I would be like, "...he was a cool dude but he dug his own grave."

if you were unjustly banned I would be calling for your return as well .

At this stage, because of this. Probably not. Hard for him to creep in and demonstrate he can post without issues when he's got a cheer squad and "free ripskater" memes are being circulated.
Aside from that, it's still under discussion. His last account wasn't banned by WR mods, and some think he could return and post without the same issues.
Personally I'm doubtful. Given all this.
