Social War Room Awards Thread 2021: Locking It Back Down. (The Results Are In.)

I do enjoy how much that "weasel" comment seemed to have bothered you enough that you insist on turning it back on me. I guess its a better look than talking down to me for my skin color like you did before.
Lol. The guy said "brown" once!

Pathetic. You start personal shit then cry and always instigate. Always.

While I consider myself to be a left-wing populist as well as a social democrat and a left libertarian, there's a contingent of left-wing populists who are either useful idiots for the right, are right wingers without knowing it, or are grifters. Think Jimmy Dore, Glenn Greenwald, Tulsi Gabbard, etc. and their supporters. But I like authentic left-wing populists like Bernie Sanders. So perhaps I don't paint the populist left with as broad a brush as you do.

I like Bernie, too. The thing is, he has populist leanings, but he's also pragmatic in his thinking (like, he'll introduce bold ideas, but he's not going to miss an opportunity to make improvements--he does the best he can). I have some disagreements with him but also deep respect for him.

You're center-left in that you believe in liberal democratic capitalism and not a socialist revolution to overthrow capitalism and replace with whatever kind of Frankenstein socialist state that pops ups in the ensuing chaos.

Yeah, I accept it if it's clear that that's the sense being used. But I reject any association with Manchin or Bald or something. For what it's worth, I really don't think capitalism and rightism are good fits. I think capitalism has some inherently leftist and specifically anti-conservative features, and it's kind of gotten appropriated by the right in America because of the Cold War. And that has really confused a lot of people (like, people act like it's "leftist" to think that corporations or rich people should be charitable or should choose to pay their workers more).

@LMP I'd like to update my nomination to include Best Insult/Beatdown of the Year: @IngaVovchanchyn calmly curb-stomping @brackis1 in the Jussie Smollett Trial PBP:

https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/...ccuses-judge-of-lunging-at-her.4216107/page-9

It's almost unfair, to be honest, but the vast differences between what each poster considers to be contributions to the forum does provide some insights as to why one is a perennial Poster of the Year nominee while the other is in the running for Shit Poster of the Year 2021.

While I agree, labels change. And while a real liberal would look at the current democrat party as a legit danger. I'm not sure we can call ourselves liberal anymore. You sorta have to go where you currently belong. And like it or not, the right wing probably is where we are in the current political climate.

No one who isn't a hack says "democrat party" or thinks that there's anything dangerous about the Democratic Party from a liberal perspective. Especially not in comparison with the party that is literally trying to get rid of democratic elections.

Not sure how you think I'm the one who makes it personal when you're the one always making far reaching, nasty assumptions about my family and my familial life. I never go there even though you leave yourself open for an obvious low blow on that point.

Whaaa, I insult him then he gets nasty with me.

That's how you sound. A sad little victim. You've taken your low blows, so quit acting like you've any moral high ground.

I'll let you have the last word. You're doing a wonderful job.

I agree, it has an atomizing effect on kinship groups which are the backbone of a traditional society. To some extent that is good, we don't need to live in a world of clans and tribes or whatever. But Its a bit too atomizing for my taste. I think an ideal society is one where most people live as a part of some kind of extended family unit that collectively owns some sort of revenue producing capital. The premodern form would be something like an extended agrarian household but in the modern world the quintessential example is the Asian shopkeeper class that exists across the world in some form or another. But it could also be something more modern like a dividend dispensing investment portfolio.

You are truly an enlightened individual among a sea of partisan peasants.

OMFG! That man said Democrat party! He's a racist, sexist, inbred nazi!

And let me be clear, the Cool people party(that better) is a danger in the same sense the GOP was under Bush. In fact, we are still living the hell of that dangerous Bush Jr era.

Both of you retreat to your personal corners and take a deep breath. Keep those gloves up

I like modern capitalism, but we at least understand each other. I can see some merit in what you're saying.

So this is a silly reaction. You can call them by their correct name or you can use childish taunts, but then just own what you're communicating about yourself when you do that.

Again, one party has abandoned any interest in governance (they didn't even have a platform in the last election!) and is actively working to get rid of democratic governance and is trying to get a bunch of books banned. The other one ... what? Too big of an expansion of the safety net? Too worker-friendly? If you're a liberal, the threat is very clearly on the right.

But the correct name set this whole thing off, silly Jack. And childish taunts? You replied to me with an insult Jacky, a post that had nothing to do with you. I try my best to ignore you.

And.....one party has....

Opened the border with no regard to the health of those entering.

Overseen heightened crime in cities

More Covid Deaths than 2020

Collaboration with private companies to censor

Using the DOJ & FBI to go after critics

Highest inflation in 30 years

I will give credit to Biden for his recent implementation of the DeSantis model to fight the virus. And will also give him credit for getting us out of Afghanistan.

But you will make excuses for all of this because that's what enlightened non partisans do. They excuse the mistakes of their party.

Leaning one way doesn't mean you have to agree with everything from that side. I've always agreed with right wingers on guns and lately agree on more like certain moral values and certain policies like school choice and deregulation in certain contexts. But would most people on this forum put me on the right? Probably not.

It's as if independent thinkers will reject pre packaged politics. Crazy, right?

I feel like I've been gradually turning into something of a 2A, self-defense and property rights lunatic, even liking as many as six (6) cold hearted, letter-of-the-law @Cubo de Sangre cockhead posts (like cocks, that's a compliment) in rapid succession recently.

I've always been a fossil fuel junkie and have previously started whole threads dedicated to the US shale industry as @ElKarlo would recall. I prefer the borders sealed and legal immigration flow set to high standards, refugees even higher in terms of background and security clearance. I live for all things American industrial sector, and almost none of it remotely lines up with the left or what they want to do.

I'm not against "clean" energy or green initiatives and investment but the idea of restricting US production only to turn around and import OPEC is preposterous. Peter is a fucking robot and 100% politician but I quite like the 'proposal' he floated during the DNC debates of Medicare For All (Who Want It) or whoever actually came up with that, if it could be properly implemented on a nationwide scale but I really doubt it at this juncture as health care has gone sort of backburner again.

It looks like some shit went down in the Berry today, two of my faves from there @sweetviolenturg and @A.S. Deep have both been taken out. I'm pretty sure the latter was by intentional pron suicide, no idea why.
Aside from lurking the crypto thread, I almost never go to the Berry. But somehow I wound up in one of their discords.
