It boils down to deciding if you want to give the courts the power to execute.
The justice system is so broken, that's not something I want.
It won't happen, anyways. There's too much money to be made incarcerating people.
When it is a matter of clear cut guilt, I'm in favor of the death penalty. Not in 10 years, on the very day the criminal is caught.
For example, that man on the Greyhound bus who decapitated somebody with a jackknife, he should have been killed on scene.
Same goes for that man in the van, running over people in Toronto. Should have been shot dead instantly.
The only reason of keep people like this alive would be to torture them in order to get information out of them (like maybe they are part of a terrorist cell). Nevertheless, they should be killed and organs harvested within days.
