How different is it compared to wrestling?

I hear that BJJ is a much slower pace, so you don't wanna exert all your energy in the first couple mins.

Your mat awareness, base, takedown, and aggression are better than most blue belts

Wrestling is a fantastic base for BJJ, many of the things you've learned aren't emphasized as much in BJJ but are still very useful (giving you an advantage), and other skills will translate over to BJJ - there will be a ton of new stuff too but you have a great starting point. Give it a try!

Try it out....
once you get the understand of the basics and what you can possible do, you will pick up stuff at an accelerated rate because of the wrestling background. I know this first hand being a wrestling coach. The one thing you may have over alot of people starting up is mat awareness but also the ability to shift weight and knowing when someone is off balance (riding high, or stretching to far). But what it comes down to it, just take everything in stride and have fun...

its a WHOLE new world and if you just a enthusiastic as you were when you got into wrestling... This is going to blow your mind ( I was kinda upset that i didnt start earlier)

You'll have to get comfortable on your back. And many people will tell you 'don't use strength'. What it usually means is 'I don't like that your athleticism and aggression are allowing you to beat me'. So focus on learning good technique, and take the rest with a grain of salt.

When put on your back, make sure you go ape-shit. Elbows/knees to the other guys face if you must, but GET OUT.

When on top, focus on holding position and throw a few fake punches to the ribs with the "shh" sound to let them know you could have done it.

You may be thinking about the athletic douchebag that has never trained a combat sport.
