Wanderlei Silva was on the MMA Hour earlier today, and he had some interesting news. First, he claims he's fihgting for Bellator in June or July. And second, he claims that's he's going to be in Rizin's open-weight tournament, which he says starts in September.

I don't know what to make of his claim about fighting for Bellator before his Nevada suspension is over. Maybe there is a settlement in the works to shorten his suspension, or maybe Bellator is just going to book him for overseas shows, like the London show in July.

open-weight tourney ?! fuck yes

Just read a tweet from sherdog that says he will be in a tag match in rizin.?!

Which July? This or next year's? If it is this year, they will probably have him fight in an international show. Didn't bellator announce 4 international shows this year? Can we rule Brazil out of the equation or no?

I can't see Coker saying screw you to any state AC.

So unless he is in some weird Bellator grappling match kind of thing I don't think he fights for Bellator till the suspension is over. Maybe there is some crazy loop hole regarding kickboxing but I don't believe there is.

Doesn't Bellator risk losing their license by doing this? Certainly isn't going to help their relationship with that commission.

Does Bellator do shows in Nevada? If yes, then letting Wand fight piss off nsac and harm their relationship. If no, bellator burned the Nsac bridge, but can most likely fight in other states.

Afaik, NSAC tried to bully other state commissions before which led to the other commissions to not follow NSAC bans.

Who knows how badly Coker wants to go/stay in Vegas.

If they pick him up sooner or later, that's a great acquisition for Bellator.

UFC would be wise to cock block.

I read that he was going to be in the GP a while back, but I thought it was just a bad translation

Wand and his lawyers are still fighting with the NSAC and are confident Wand's suspension will be reduced to 2 years. I guess that's why he's saying July... maybe.

CSAC allowed it for Shlemenko.

cock block what? UFC let him go, they coudl have just said fuck you and kept him under contract and not allowed him to even fight overseas, they didnt.

Same with Rampage, UFC has a contract with him as well, they could have sued him if he tried to go back to Bellator, they didnt, they gave him their blessing and said go take care of business in Bellator.

Keeping a fighter around that accused the ufc of fixing fights is not the UFC's style.

Fucking over a competitor when they have the chance to acquire an exiting draw is, though.

Wanderlei is one of a very small handful of the PRIDE crossovers that delivered the goods in the UFC when people like Cro-Cop turned out to be million dollar duds.

do they need Athletic Commissions when they fight on Indian Reservations?

He can't fight in the states and Bellator not going to let him fight while suspended.

There is nothing to cockblock.

Bellator would have to try and go commission shopping but is any commission gonna go against NSAC ruling?

Would make Bellator look so bad if they even attempt this.

One thing about UFC, any suspension handed out they honor, for Bellator to go against that would make them look horrible.

I cant see them being that stupid and attempting this.

I think Wandy does whatever he does in Rizin and then next year he comes back to Bellator when he is able to fight.

Like many things that are illegal, that gives me a massive erection.
