I think CM Punk has the same amount of concussions as fighters because of fuck up and injuries during his career.

"Did he ever get punched in the head?"
Well wand, he's probably safer then you were fighting after getting ktfo a bunch of times.

I'm not concerned because they're going to put him in with someone with a similarly low level of ability.

    This

He still might get jacked but they simply won't sanction a fight that doesn't seem to be even possibly competitive. No current UFC fighter of any weightclass could fight him because by the time you got to the point where it might be competitive, the weight disparity would preclude it.

I should throw my hat in the running to fight him. I wrestled in hs and two years in college, and my band has a decent amount of Facebook likes. Could prob get up to mw

Wandy must have forgotten where he comes from. Twice he fought guys with literally zero fights.

    Sean Bormet
Tatsuya Iwasaki (this was an in his prime Wand too)

And I don't want to even try to list all the guys with 1 or 2 fights before they were fed to him.

    LOL

Pretty sure he isnt gonna get fed to Lawler. MMA isnt like that any more. Amusing that Wand is complaining about it though.

    Give me a break.

This is a sport where actors, comedians, sumo wrestlers, baseball players, etc, etc fought with very limited training, often with knees, stomps, and soccer kicks allowed. And guess what, they survived just fine!

As long as the ref does his job, CM Punk's biggest injury concern should be a bruised ego.

Maybe you should document yourself before talking

Iwasaki was a top 10 kyokushin karate in the 90's.
He won several all japan tournaments and performed decently in the world championships..
Not saying it was legit to put him against Wand for a first fight (stupid japanese spirit a la " he will die but giving it all ) , but to compare him with CM Punk is a joke..
How would Punk fare against people like Francisco Filho, Feitosa, Hajime Kazumi, Kenji Yamaki under striking rules ??

Maybe he should worry about the freakshow fights in Japan first. Were he to fight in Nevada, Phil would be matched up with someone with a couple fights at most, at 185 or 205. Compare this to Japan, where Minowaman gets matched up against someone with 0 pro fights and no grappling training, and the ref doesn't stop it until he leg gets turned 180 degrees.

I remember when the commission wouldn't let Butterbean fight Mark Hunt because they felt they needed to protect Butterbean.

Grown ass man. Knows the risks. It's a combat sport and only a matter of time before some freak accident happens. Plus commission won't sanction a dangerously lopsided fight. So hopefully minimal mortal risk but knowing the risks...

It doesn't surprise one bit, the ufc is becoming more like pride fc with its freakshow fights. I don't agree with Silva and I think punk should be fed to the lions to be honest.

Matching up a guy with little experience but a full camp at a well-renowned gym against someone with a similar background is hardly a freakshow fight. The only "freak" thing about this is someone getting his debut in the UFC, but that's just the stage, all that matters is that he has a comparable opponent and a competent ref. He's far more likely to have a safe fight in the UFC in Vegas than he would in some regional circuit in Iowa with a ref who doesn't know shit.

I'll probably get made fun of here, but I really thought Zuffa wanted to hurt this event

They're probably going to grab some drunk guy from the crowd, let Punk beat the shit out of him and then Dana will make Joe hype him up as a 'bad motherfucker'.
