Headliners get randomly tested by the NSAC if a fight is announced. Legally or not. If Wand wins, fighters like Jones will wait as long as possible before they can before applying for a license and then get tested only on the night.

They should ban you for a year if you run from a test, imo. That seems suitable, what the commission did was very strange.

I agree it did seem harsh, but honestly, Wanderlei brought this on himself.

Here is a quick rundown:

1) He ran from a drug test.

2) Instead of going to the commission and doing his best to explain himself, he sent an attorney, who for all intents and purposes, said, 'Yeah, he ran from the test. Yeah, he was taking banned substances. But you don't have the authority to do jackety shit about it. Fuck You. Summary dismissal for running from a drug test without any fine or punishment please.'

3) The NSAC, quite understandably perturbed, goes all Tony Soprano:

Wand is a legend, has not once been part of a boring fight, he either KO people or gets KOed.

The commissions are doing more. They just randomly tested JJ/DC. Vitor/Weidman also have random tests. As long as the ufc pays, commisions will do it. I do agree guys still get away but unfortunately for Wand he got busted and ran away.
