People only reference Wand Hendo II but he rocked and dropped Hendo about 6X's in the first fight.

Dan actually tried cheating in the fight he was getting beaten so badly, and Hendo was undefeated going into the fght at like, 12-0.

It is an underrated beatdown; the fight really catapulted Wand's status to being one of the best fighters in the world.

Hendo was technically undefeated but the Nogueira decision was a bad one, and he had a couple other controversial decisions. It is no wonder he had that Decision Dan nickname, lol.

One of the all time greats, no doubt.

Total fucking lunatic, but he made the sport what it is today.

Yes! Thank you!

A lot of people think he got that nickname because he was always going to a decision but it was because he was gifted so many decisions.

Judges may as well have been wearing a blind fold and flipped a coin at the end on some of those.

Then Dan went and said the most ridiculous thing, saying he thought the decision in Wand vs. Dan I was bad.

long live the king
hell of a resume. His in-fight balls are the measuring stick for all other testicles who enter the sport.

When you watch Hunt KO guys like Nelson, it's amazing to think Wanderlei went toe to toe to him and didn't come out so bad.

I think Wanderlei vs Sakuraba is about as big-balled of a fight as we've ever had.

Guy is a legend no matter what happens. This legacy talk doesn't mean shit.

Absolutely crazy. Wand was fearless. He also went toe-to-toe TWICE with Cro Cop, and pleaded the doctors not the stop the fight despite his eye totally closed.

Mount Rushmore no doubt. WAndy, Saku, Fedor, Couture(actually not sure about Randy but I'd pick him over Liddel/Ortiz etc)

This is my favorite Wanderlei picture.

100 or so pound advantage, and he was supposed to fight Sakuraba, Wand didn't care.

Open Weight Grand Prix - final night. He has Cro Cop who was an absolute killer at his peak. In fact, if you were to name the absolute peak of Cro Cop's career it would be the OWGP. If Wandy wins he fights the winner of Big Nog / Josh Barnett later the same night. At the time Fedor was #1, Big Nog #2, Cro Cop #3, and Barnett had already been UFC heavyweight champ and was certainly top 10.

Wandy was completely roided and who could blame him. Every one in Pride knew that the guy you were fighting could be on roids.

I had been a Sakuraba fan, and rooted for Rampage against Wandy. Even I had to give Wandy credit for fighting in the OWGP. On Sherdog a sizeable minority thought that Wandy would beat Cro Cop and Big Nog back to back. That's what a monster he was in his prime. Cro cop blasted him with the straight left hand, which he stopped throwing later in his career and then the LHK and Wandy's career was all down hill.

absolute fucking legend.

imo, when he fought cro cop for the first time, that was when the axe murderer calmed down and fought a bit more tactically. which was good in a way, but he seemed to lose his wildness, and fear factor.

early pride Wand is one of the most frightening individuals ever. tong po. 2001 Wand would scare the shit out of all modern mw's

Barnett was easily a Top-5 HW at the time of the OWGP, especially after beating Nogueira. The #5 guy was either Coleman, Sylvia, or Hunt. Wand might have been a Top-10 HW, tbh, considering how he did against Hunt and many thinking he won.

But yeah, Wand was fearless.
