Actually come fight night Chael was a slight underdog I believe. The lines shifted the night before.
But anybody being realistic should have known that Chael was a bad match up stylistically for Shogun. The man has zero TDD, terrible cardio, and his BJJ has never been a submission threat
If the lines shifted I have no clue as to why. Shogun clearly came into the weigh-in softer than usual and as you said Chael was an absolute horrible style matchup for Shogun which was what the sensible posters including myself kept saying.
Maybe I was just ignoring those that were picking Shogun and writing them off as hopeless Shugun nutthuggers? I had Chael by five round dry-hump or possible late round tko stoppage once Shogun gassed but was pleasantly surprised.
