Wait so why is the UFC doing a card on sunday?

Lol it's going to be a party in downtown Boston when the game is over and bet you'd be able to hear the cheering from inside TD.

You realize there's 49 other states they're hoping to attract viewership in, right?

this upcoming Sunday was about the only night available at the TD Gardens; tonight the Celtics are playing in the TD Garden and tomorrow night the Bruins are playing.

The UFC couldn't go with a weekday card this week - Bruins & Celtics alternated night games all week.

The fight card night was scheduled back in late October/early November, so the NFL playoff sites were far from being set.

I'm not sure what time the event will start but the NFL game starts around 6:30 or 7 and will go about 3 hours. I'd expect UFC to be at 7 or 8 and go two hours. I do agree, the conflict is pretty stupid.
Main card starts at 10.

That's great. Gates have shown the stadium is essentially sold out for the UFC event and TV numbers are really the only things that matters anyway.

Not to mention pats ain't winning lol.

Not quite sure anybody has said that in this thread. Guy asked why they're holding it on a Sunday and it was explained from their vantage point.

The guy i quoted started his statement saying Fox is going to actually promote this fight

Probably because Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day so they're expecting most people in the US to have the day off.

Main card starts at 10, main event will likely kick off at midnight. There's going to be very little actual crossover in terms of the fights that matter to the UFC (co-main and main) and the game.

They are. IIRC Fox is sending one of their NFL crew reporters (can't remember which one) to do cut ins during the prelim card. They're going to promote it as something happening after the game. Whether it works is irrelevant.

so when the numbers do bad, they can blame on football ... i don't think conor is a draw, but we shall see ... dana gonna say something like

"look, we fucked up ... i don't want people to think for one fuckin second that this kid connor isnt a draw .. this is the ufc's problem ... look, connor went up against tom fuckin brady who is a legend in this town ... we fucked up .. but connor is still our greatest fighter after ronda"

Lol sherdogers are complete tards.

Game will be over by the main card and UfC 182 main card and prelims went up against NFL playoff games and got the greatest numbers in years...

But let's keep talking about how stupid the UFC is herp derp, I dont even usually agree with the UFC but this thread is going full-retard.

Lol prelims went up against Baltimore vs Pittsburgh in a Wild card match up...Know your football bro.

This is the AFC championship game which means by the end of this game people will be so drunk nobody will be trying to spend the time to find the FS1 channel. It's hard enough to do it sober.

The entire States that make up New England could give two fucks about this fight and people at the fight will look relatively sad like they got stuck in an elevator and can't get out.

Forgot about the site of the game that is a coincidence, millons are gonna watch the game on TV

Has the event sold out?

Not yet but it seems like they're expecting it to. Ariel Helwani says they're at less than 1500 tickets left while Dave Sholler says it'll sell more tickets than any other UFC event in Boston. The tops IIRC was close to 15K for Penn/Edgar II.

Ok? The wildcard match ups still get like 28-million viewers you tard. I watch football all the time stop trying to sound like you're somehow a NFL expert lol

You're logic is people will be drunk and can't find the channel? what the fuck are you even babbling about?

The main card starts when the NFL game is over. The ratings are going to be great because any person with a brain who wants to will just watch both lol.

Isn't there a HW title fight on Saturday?

This is retarded scheduling, but I guess they thought they'd lose more combat sport viewers to boxing than a potential playoff game. It's not like they knew when and where the AFC championship would be when they set this up.
Yes, Showtime is airing Wilder vs Stiverne for Stiverne's WBC world title.

UFC set this date and location in late October, about halfway through the NFL season.
UFC wanted a card in Boston with McGregor on it and the TD Garden's schedule is pretty tight from December to March with the Bruins & Celtics, some college sports tournaments & concerts/events.

Guess the UFC didn't think the Patriots would end up the #1 seed and then be hosting the AFC title game. (wonder what their casino's odds were on the Patriots)

Dana let's all the UFC employees take the day off for MLKJ Day. Fack the consumer! :icon_lol:

I love football but lost interest all together after that robbery against Dallas. I'm not butt hurt about it really but once the Cowboys are done I'm over with football until Super Bowl.

This fight night card will be awesome. Cowboy/Bendo 3 is gonna be awesome. Finally Cowboy will finish Smooth.

And the prelims have a lot of exciting fighters

UFN>NFL playoffs for me

I hear ya there I lose interest in it too after my team is out which is also Dallas, but instead of being pissed about the catch that wasn't we should be proud of the team we have now heading into next year

Super Bowl 50 here we come!

Not to mention the game ran into the main card (8:25 start time plus 3 hr game length).
