Wait, JDS throws kicks?!

Okay the fight was great. The spinning heel kick was great. How come no one's talking about JDS adding kicks to his skill set?
 
JDS has solid kicks and knees. He just doesn't use them very often.
 
It doesn't surprise me that he's added kicks to his game. I'd like to see him throw more knees, too. In his previous fight with Cain, it was crying out for some knees and kicks to give Cain something else to worry about, rather than the standard boxing he had nullified. That was a big weakness in any future fight he'd have with Cain, so I'm glad he's improved.
 
He also threw a high kick against carwin. It's the same with Belfort both have aboxing style but use single kicks rarely they're not adding much to their arsenal they could do it all the time but he didn't need to he used a kick because Hunt was someone with a similar level of striking and he needed every trick he knows to win. He also used a lot of knees against Crocop

It's the next stage in MMA evolution. Like BJJ, soon if you don't know spinning shit, or how to defend spinning shit, you're going to get bypassed by the new breed.

I agree. And it all started with Condit vs Diaz.
 
stereotyping 101 - until demonstrated otherwise, assume a brazilian can kick.

name me the brazilian mma fighter that has shown that he can't kick.
 
He's used kicks in the past. He kicked and kneed Gonzaga, Cro Cop, and Nelson.

Only person I recall using them effectively in MMA before that was Siver.

he worked a lot of kicks in his sparring video with shogun a few years back.
