Vitor's guard?

Ok, isn't Vitor a black belt in BJJ ? Why did he allow Weidman to mount so easily? It's one thing if he got the mount after a minute or 2, but he seemed to get right on top pretty easily.

Did Vitor make a mistake a rookie may have made? He didn't try to hold Weidman down or get wrist control, trap an arm etc.. He just got it too easily in my opinion.

We were not impressed with that part of his game.

Great comeback by Weidman, but I think Vitor should have done better defending.

Yeah I thought that was kinda weird. I'm not sure if he gassed or what but IMO the chris mental broke him and he wanted out. Vitors biggest weakness has always been his mental game.

He was almost trying to punch his way out of mount. It was kind of pathetic.

I don't know the reason for this. Doesn't make sense. Barely even tried to move his hips. Hope he didn't mentally check out.

Joe kept on him about it after the fight. Vitor didn't really answer just said Chris was the better man tonight.

Showed virtually no urgency to improve his position, waited like a fucking year to see this fight and that's how Vitor decided to go out.

Yeah... unless he was gassed out of his mind, Vitor checked out of that fight in a big, embarassing way.

I think he got overexcited when he started landing the combos and then a combination of tiredness and got his head out of the game.

Weidman landed in side control when he got the takedown, I don't see what you expect Vitor to do in that situation. Weidman is an elite level grappler (not just a wrestler) as well, pretty impossible to get him off you in that position

Aside from the Jones fight, Vitor hasn't showed anything effective off of his back... Having a blackbelt in BJJ doesn't automatically make you a threat off of your back.
