vitamins harmful?

thought = we know vitamin a palmitate isnt very great for you

all those other things will come in proper amounts from a proper diet

thus the current multivitamin formulation everyone is using is probably not optimal compared to a rich whole food diet

Seems like a poorly designed mechanism for study to me. I'd bet that a large portion of people who take vitamins are concerned about their health for a reason, and some may already have life-threatening conditions. They're confusing correlation with causation.

Obviously if you eat a perfect whole food diet, you won't need vitamins to the same extent as the average joe. But who's to say that the body's functions can't be further optimized by a surplus of certain nutrients, especially those proven safe in larger doses? Plus, you get a bit more leeway in your diet, which is key for anyone who doesn't calculate every single thing they put in their mouths.
