    The question here!

Is Bellator going to continue to run a company without a hw champ?

Mondragon has been hitting the gym since his UFC release. He is also fighting Tony Lopez at the end of the month in Japan. What promotion? IGF?

Pretty confident we won't ever see Minakov in Bellator again.

Mondragon isn't good. He's just got that "wow he's big" appeal. Takedown and a minute later this will be over.

Well, don't know about that, but Sherdog told me that UFC is dying and Coker is saving MMA from extinction. Nobody is signing for the UFC because of Reebok deal anymore, everybody is going to Bellator, all fighters are happy there...

Fight Night is actually putting out some pretty good prospects at all weight classes.

Not basing this on any inside info, but I'm assuming at this point that:

Minakov wants to go to the UFC and Bellator wants to retain him, so they can't make any Bellator fights (Minakov needs to sit out a certain amount of time, or wait to a certain date, or maybe Bellator doesn't want to give him the last fight on his contract, something dependent on how the contract is set up).

So, while they're at a stalemate, Bellator is being extremely generous and letting him fight in Russia, or maybe Minakov actually got a clause saying he can always fight in Russia.

It's interesting that they mostly don't care about production and doing a show at some bigger arena. I would not be surprised to see their event with nice prospects happening in someones backyard. Regional shows with much weaker cards regularly had better production than Fight Nights. I did not watch it that much recently, but I highly doubt that things have changed.

Bellator is probably unwilling to pay Minakov his contracted show/win money so they will have him fight outside the organization and when he fights in Bellator they will offset the earnings.

Bellator does look bad while their HW champ fights outside their org while they do nothing.

Either get him to fight or strip him and move on, the title sitting on the shelf isnt a good look.

As a Russian with some knowledge of the situation, there is a lot to this story.

    1. YES, Vitaly is now doing some political work in his home region on Bryansk, Russia. It is not full-time but it is a serious job (UFC fighter Ali Baguatinov is also doing political work in Dagestan, Russia and both men are on the Fight-Nights team). So while that is a serious commitment for Vitaly it doesn't necessarily mean his career is over.

    2. He had suffered a serious injury that took him out for about a year. He only started training again about 2 months ago and is taking a few "shake-of-the-rust" fights in Russia for the Fight-Nights promotion that he is a partner with. He also wanted to have some fights near his political region to help develop MMA back home.

    3. He has said that he only wants to take a couple more fights and would like to fight in the UFC. IMO he is gearing up for one more serious run (he will be training with Fedor for his return) in the US for a few fights.

-Whether that'll be in the UFC or Bellator is anyones guess but rumors are that he is not interested in rematches with Kongo or Volkov(understandably those fights are meh)

    My prediction:
Bellator can convince him that a fight vs. Bobby Lashley as either main-event or co-main at a future Tentpole event would be worth Vitaly's time
    OR
Bellator releases him ala Eddie Alvarez and Minakov comes into the UFC for a fight against a Mir, Bigfoot, Browne type opponent and WINS

Yep I guarantee we never see Minakov in Bellator again. All lucrative bouts for him are in the UFC and he is biding is time fighting in Russia until I'm guessing his contract is up with Bellator.
