Not sure what’s their problem between them. But as a pro not only as a fighter, when you sign a contract you have to fulfill it. That simple. The only excuse sustainable in a court, its if the person is retarded or got trick in to something he didn’t want to do. Lol

How many fights left on Eddie's contract when he left? From what I've seen, Minakov's said that on his contract left from 4 to 7 (or 8) fights.

Did not beat him when he was top 10. He has 0 wins against guys that were in the top10 when he fought them.

    I don’t think he’s top 10.

    DC
    Stipe
    Blaydes
    Volkov
    Lewis
    N’gannou
    Overeem
    Werdum
    JDS
    Hunt

Where does Vitaly fit into that elite?

I would favor Minakov over the current, washed-up versions of Hunt and Overeem, although two older fighters would certainly have a chance. I think Minakov would also be at least 50% against the current, well past their prime versions of Werdum and JDS.

N'Gannou is a question mark. However, I would favor DC, Stipe, Blaydes, Volkov now, and Lewis over Minakov.

    If serious yes.

The guy has some serious skills. Specially his grappling. He should stick to it. He has great takedowns and excellent top control, gnp and submissions. For some reason sometimes he prefers to strike.

His downfall seems to be his cardio and awful striking defense.

But lets be honest. Reem is shot, Werdum is shot and old, JDS is still good but not the killer he was, Hunt is like 45, Volkov has terrible TDD, Lewis is a brawler, Ngannou is a big question mark at this point...

Lewis' TDD is not that solid, in his fights vs Pesta, Jordan, Abdurakhimov and Nelson he was taken down 19 times. Minakov is a better wrestler than all of those guys, he's a master of sports in freestyle wrestling, master of sports in judo and also a 4 time sambo world champion. Tony Johnson is a good wrestler who outwrestled Lewis and Volkov and beat them both. Yet Minakov made a mockery of his wrestling in his last FNG fight and took him down at will.

    I was also very impressed with Minakov's wrestling against Tony Johnson in his last fight, but there are a few caveats in doing the MMAth to determine he would take down Lewis with ease;

    1. Minakov took Johnson down off a crappy Johnson leg kick. A takedown off such a counter is very different than had Minakov done so from a naked shot or clinch with no set-up, and is not "at will".

    2. Tony Johnson looked ridiculously fat and out of shape for that fight, even by his standards. He isn't the same guy he was even a few years ago. Not that he was ever great, but surely better than the unmotivated journeyman he was against Minakov.

    3. Lewis' takedown defense has improved an awful lot since he fought Johnson in 2011.

I'm not particularly impressed with Lewis (I actually think it's a shameful indictment on the heavyweights that someone who admits to only training 30 minutes a day is considered top 5), but he presents a stylistic problem for Minakov right now.

Alexandr Shabliy also trains at AKA/ATT, I hope he can find his way to the UFC one day.

Yeah idc if he says he only trains 30 min a day that's just simply a lie. No hw is making it out of round 1 training 30 minutes a day and lewis has finished dudes in the 4th.

I have seen all of his Bellator/FNG fights and imo he beats Volkov, Lewis, Ngannou, Overeem and Hunt. Werdum is suspended, not in the top 10.

Stipe, Blaydes and JDS would be the most difficult fights for him, and Stipe is the only one i'd pick over Minakov.
Exactly. Lewis was being controlled by Tybura on the ground a few months ago, he's not stopping Minakov's takedowns and different from Tybura, Minakov's GNP is pretty good. Minakov has a better submission game too.

Stop saying Minakov just crushes cans in Russia.

I have news for you.. the UFC HW division is cans, 95% of them are cans and part time fighters. Yes Cormier is awesome, very good fighter.. Cain is very good but never fights. The rest are so beatable, Minakov would beat them all with ease.

The number 1 contender in UFC HW is Volkov, and Minakov beat him very very very easily. Ngannou would be hopeless against Minakov, he would get choked out so easily. The rest are old age pensioners, then below that its all cans.

I'd pick Minakov to beat Lewis in 8/10 fights. Lewis sux and people are afraid to say that because hes in the UFC. If he was in Bellator people on this forum would call him a bum.
