  • Working with Ali Abdelaziz, who resolved his contract issues with Bellator in less than 24 hours
  • His Bellator contract was financially improved and the number of fights was reduced, from 7 fights to 2 years or 6 fights, what comes first
  • Wanted to fight on December but Bellator postponed it to February
  • Bellator considered doing a event in Russia in partnership with RCC but didn't worked out
  • Different from some fighters like Kharitonov, Taimanglo and others, Minakov's contract is Bellator exclusive, he can't fight for any other organizations now
  • Refuses to fight Fedor, respects him too much, views him as a sports icon in Russia, who motivated him to practice MMA, and says that this fight doesn't make sense since they're top fighters from different generations
  • If possible, he would like to not compete against fellow Russians. Although, a fight with Kharitonov still interests him and would be possible, says that before his fight with Alexander Volkov, Kharitonov was a bit arrogant with his comments towards him, that's extra motivation
  • Will train at ATT again for his camp against Cheick Kongo

He looked sloppy at times.. but he is an animal when he is on.

BTW.. if he goes to ATT he will train with JDS?

probably, he's saying that he doesn't know exactly who will be there because of the holidays and vacation, but hope to train with some Brazilian guys (probably JDS, Golm, Roggers Souza) and with Oleinik and Sosnovskiy

Kharitonov is also from Fedors generation, so thats like AJ wanting to fight Shannon Briggs for some smack talk. Its just talk, no need to be upset over it.
 
imagine he and fedor win their fights, then refuse to fight each other, that would be a mess, who else could they have step in to contend for the belt, i guess mitrione?

Minakov said that if that happens a possibility would be Fedor vacating the belt, so Minakov could fight someone else like Kharitonov or Meathead for it
 
If Fedor wins and Cro Cop beats Nelson, it would be a crime not to make Fedor vs Cro Cop II for the Bellator HW title.
 
Minakov is wasting his career fighting bums and fighting Bellator with various disputes. He could have been very competitive at UFC.

He pretty much said that he was tying to leave Bellator (pre-Coker) to get into the UFC, but his contract chained him.
Now he obtained a different contract that he could see the end, after that everything is possible.
 
I think we'll see him head to the UFC in two years. Personally, by then we should see him fight the guys we want to see him fight in Bellator.

True, but he's taken more damage from both MMA and kickboxing. He's kind of like Roy Nelson and Mark Hunt were about 5 years ago: damaged, getting older, but still capable of KO-ing almost anyone in the right circumstances. A few more years and a few more KO losses, and he'll be like the current Nelson and Hunt.
 
Damn, so excited to see Minakov back in Bellator! While we're on the subject, can we re-sign Cole Conrad as well? Minakov will become champ and Fortune takes it off him.

nice he'll be at ATT. he needs a good camp if hes gonna jump right back in with better comp than what he was fighting in russia. bigfoot and the like are solid names but arent on the same level or dangerous as guys like kongo, or even a guy like meathead
