(CNN)The Virginia Supreme Court on Friday ruled against Gov. Terry McAuliffe's executive order seeking to reinstate the right to vote to approximately 206,000 Virginians who had been convicted of a felony but had completed their sentences.
Writing for a 4-3 court, Chief Justice Donald W. Lemons held that the "assertion that a Virginia governor has the power to grant blanket, group pardons" is "irreconcilable" with the Constitution of Virginia

So he tried an end run around the constitution to make sure to deliver Virginia to Clinton by a mass restoration of felon voting rights. But only voting rights nothing about 2nd amendment rights.
The court said he had to do this on an individual basis.
Now I don't mind giving felons their voting rights back (after they are off parole) and even their 2nd amendment rights back. However it should be on a case by case basis.
However this was just an obvious attempt at trying to make sure he could deliver Virginia to Clinton.
