Germany has experienced a wave of violent antisemitic attacks, largely committed by German Muslims.

German and Swiss media Sunday reported several violent attacks on Jews in Berlin and Zurich over the weekend.

On Saturday, three Germans and six Syrians were detained for allegedly assaulting a Syrian Jew in a park in Berlin’s Mitte district. The unidentified 19-year-old victim, who was wearing a Star of David, told police the suspects shouted “antisemitic insults,” punched him, and pulled a cigarette from his mouth. The victim was hospitalized.

In Zurich, a German man threatened three Orthodox Jews with a knife. According to the Swiss daily Blick, the assailant shouted antisemitic insults while pursuing his victims with his weapon. A bystander stopped the man, who was detained by the Swiss police and subsequently released. The Swiss prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation.

In recent months, Germany has experienced a wave of violent, antisemitic attacks, largely perpetrated by Muslims.

In June, a Berlin court sentenced a Syrian immigrant to a four-week jail term for an antisemitic attack on an Israeli man. The Syrian Arab was also sentenced to undergo Holocaust education. The Syrian has appealed the sentence.

As mentioned in a previous thread, Jewish organizations are recommending Jews to not wear kippa in public in Germany.

One can't help but being somewhat worried, Jews are being targeted and German car makers are gassing animals and test persons...

This was actually not an antisemitic attack just a ''normal'' rape-murder.
Not saying that you are wrong with the overall topic. And the incident above is horrible.
That was probably the first one where you can see the mood against refugee/migrants slightly change.

But Germany’s newly appointed anti-Semitism commissioner, Felix Klein, says the data are incomplete. There is no nationwide register of anti-Semitic incidents that aren’t considered crimes, such as schoolyard bullying.

INB4 "terrorism apologist" because I'm not certain who's to blame for the increase. I'm well aware of the rampant anti-semitism and homophobia in the muslim community but it's not like Germany doesn't have a native problem with antisemitism either.

I know that in Belgium, gay people being beaten up in public is largely done by muslims. We had a movie playing in 2007 I think where there was a scene were some gay people in a park were being beaten up by...skinheads. It got rightful backlash, even from voices within te muslim community.

I've been to schools and sport clubs with Chechens and one of the things they did was going to a public park known for having gay people, and they had the sport of beating them up, badly.

They were nearly all very antisemitic. One of te go-to insults for teenage muslims is still "you jew".

I'm not sure if there is a similar dynamic going on in German.

I am no historian but I assume an anti-Semitism commissioner used to have a different meaning in the 1930's?.

It wasn't always that way, they started off as basically an Islamic makeover of the communist revolutionary. Anti the "taghout" regimes. Anti-colonial. Anti-capitalist. Anti-western.
There's still some of that there, but there's a lot more religious nationalism (especially amongst the Turks).
