Vince Li, a mentally disturbed man who was deemed mentally not responsible for the murder of then 22 year old carnival worker Tim Mclean who had fallen asleep on a Greyhound bus in 2008, has been awarded unsupervised visits into cities Winnipeg and Selkirk less than 6 years after the incident. Li has previously been awarded supervised visits into these cities in 2012 and his doctors have said that he has been responding well to treatment. Li stabbed the sleeping Mclean in the neck and chest, eventually decapitating Mclean and displaying the severed head to the other passengers and placing parts of the victim's body in plastic bags, the ear, nose and tongue were found in Li's pockets. The victim's eyes and a part of his heart were never recovered and are presumed to have been eaten by Li.

That was one of the most gruesome things I've ever heard about. Hard to believe he's been allowed to leave a cell.
 
Th family off the victim must be going crazy right now. I don't even know the victim, and will probably never have any business in Winnipeg, but I'm livid at this.

This is the same kind of bullshit justice that was present in the case of the woman in Victoria BC who put glass in baby food and fed it to her eight month old son...so she could sue the company that made the baby food for money. She got eighteen months in jail.
 
Should send his ass to Raqqa, where all the other head-chopping nutjars have assembled.
 
The absurdity of this case is beyond me. The guy cut off a kids head for no reason and gets unsupervised day passes in less than 6. Marvelous. The justice is overwhelming.
 
Damn. And here I though I was liberal on prisoner rights. That's really stupid.
 
God damn it Canada. This guy shouldnt be allowed out of a strait jacket.

Also, it doesn't really matter to me that he doesn't go to prison because he's obviously got mental problems - but seriously, he should be in a nut house for the rest of his life and never be allowed out in public unescorted.

I'm all for giving people second chances in the vast majority of crimes, but cutting off a random dude's head that's sleeping beside you on a greyhound isn't one of them.
 
yeah no, this is one of those acts where it doesn't matter what was going on in your head at the time.

It is hard for any society to strike a good balance between justice and mercy, but this is not even trying.
 
Yea this is fuckin crazy. This guy should never be allowed out unsupervised. I'm not saying he should be in prison, it's not about punishment. I don't care if they take him out on day trips or whatever, but he shouldn't be out there like that.
 
I wonder how close the family is to making it so the murderer doesn't come back from one of his visits.
 
He's a schizophrenic I believe, and was having an episode when he killed the guy. That was why he was found not criminally responsible and sent to a mental health institution instead. They would not have been able to prove men reas. I do think he should be kept in the crazy house for at least 20 more years before being let out.
