Hi everyone,

I caught up with Scott MacLean, owner and head coach at FitPlus MMA, just 24-hours after his fighter TJ Grant defeated the favoured Gray Maynard at UFC 160.

Hear what Scott has to say about how they planned the strategy to defeat Maynard, as well as what

Good job Andy on a well conducted interview, thank you.

I second that. You're a great interviewer. Very well executed. Intelligent questions, natural flow, very relaxed conversation. True interest and respect shown. Very professional and enjoyable to watch. Good stuff, and thanks for posting.

Good interview, so happy for TJ. No one would have expected this 1-2 years ago.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

It's funny because I don't really feel that I'm a good interviewer. I speak too fast sometimes and I say "um" and "ah" too much.

Saying that TJ broke Maynard because Gray found out that he couldn't bully him is a bit much considering it was all Gray at first. IMO Grant found success after it became apparent that Maynard had no interest in bring it to the ground.

Actually, I spoke with Gray's Father and he commented that Gray had felt "terribly awkward" in the Cage.
Gray had intentions of taking the fight to the ground after the initial exchanges. He switched from conventional to a southpaw stance to expedite a TD.
Grant was right on top of Gray's maneuver and landed an excellent shot when Gray was vulnerable, and followed up tenaciously.
Gray wants to get back in the Cage quickly.
TJ has "the eye of the Tiger" now. I think it would be to TJ's advantage to fight for the Title as soon as possible rather than have it delayed.
