video of me working stand up

looks good what weight class do you fight?

Just out of curiosity, do you just go by "Blacksmith"...?

Might I suggest Richard "The Black" Smith?

It's catchy, intimidating in that Pirate kind of way, and ironical all at the same time.

I'm around 208 right now but I compete at 185. BlackSmith was initially a joke at the gym because I'm black and my last name is smith, but I like your suggestion. Thanks!

Looking great! I liked the drill with what looked like an obi.. I'll have to suggest that to my instructors

Just a sock with handwraps in them. It's much more difficult than it looks. we usually do that as a finisher when I'm already dog tired.

That's an old school drill. In Boxing we do it with just a towel and a small circle, and there's some penalty for stepping out of the circle. But you can block with the hands, forearms, and use slipping, ducking, bobbing and weaving. Teaches elusiveness in the pocket.

looking good in all areas, trainers are giving you a lot of 1 on 1 attention, good to see.
only one comment to make, watch your defense when you kick.

It's refreshing to actually see some decent stand up videos. Normally on here, you see jokes who think they're badass without any formal training posting up videos of themselves looking foolish.

Thanks for the comments. I'm currently in Denver working with my Kickboxing coach. So that's why I get alot of 1 on1 attention. I live in San Antonio and train with Marcello Salazar from BTT for my ground game. I hope to make a big splash in the sport very soon.

Great vid thanks for posting.
I like the parry + knee technique your working.

Good vid man.

You should upload a vid of your ground game. If its anything like your stand-up then you should do very well.

Looks good from the quick view I had at work. Definitely going to watch it again and attempt to borrow some of those techniques :icon_chee Thanks.

Someone above me said it was refreshing to see some good standup. I mirror that sentiment. If you'd like some critique I have some advice, but keep in mind most of your work looked solid so I'd just be nit picking. :icon_chee
