Was checking out some new games.

Since when have new releases been $79?

    80 bucks for a game?

And that's not all. A lot of them try to rob you with micro-transactions.

So you pay $80 bucks for a new game, and you can't even access all the content without needing to shed even more money from your wallet.

Yeah but you get more entertainment out of them than say, a movie, that only entertains you for 2 hours.

So if your movie ticket was 10 bucks that's 5 bucks per hour.

If the game gives you 18 hours of entertainment then it's the same price.

Hookers are the real waste. 100 bucks for 2 minutes

Lol wtf, video games are cheap as hell considering what you're getting.

100 hours for 60 dollars vs 10-15 dollars for a 2 hour movie.

Games have barely gone up in price since I started gaming in the early 90's. If anything video games are not expensive enough which is why we see a ton of micro transactions and DLC. Production costs have gone way up but the cost has only increased 10-20 dollars in the last couple decades.

Video games are actually a very cheap source of entertainment if you aren't stupid about it.

A console will set you back $300 or so, but the games themselves aren't much if you don't buy them at release or mess around with microtransactions. A typical AAA game that is maybe a year old can be bought for like $30 and if you really like it you'd be dumping in countless hours into the game. The occasional guilt purchase of a new title for $60 or so would be a bit pricier, but gaming doesn't need to be an expensive hobby at all.

Actually, you're right. Just researched it. I didn't realize that games in 1990 cost $50 on average.
Mortal Kombat 11. I was reading reviews and a bunch of people were complaining about micro-transactions.

I'm sure there are plenty others. Micro-transactions seem to be the thing these days. That and the always online model are ruining videogames.

Isn't that just Canadian prices, with American prices being about $10 cheaper?

But yeah, I agree. I haven't bought a brand new game in the longest time. I just wait for sales. With digital, there's really no point to go all in on Day 1. Wait a few months, and you'll get whatever you want for a song. Likely with all the DLC as well. You're almost punished for being an early adopter these days. It's just not worth it, and the only thing driving people is impulse. Just wait it out. It's worth it.

I paid $59 this year and will likely pay another $24.99 for season pass. First time doing this at these prices.

That's why I never get new releases. Unless you really want to. Wait for GOTY version with all the DLCs.

Yeah I have Sekiro now, but want to get days gone. I'll just wait and buy it used at game stop.
