(VIDEO) Biggest ref mistakes in MMA

It's amazing how amateur these referee's are, as MMA has evolved and continues to evolve we still have not seen a change in Judging / Reffing.

Hopefully as this past generation of fighters enter retirement, many of them will pursue judging, reffing fights. Example : Shaolin Ribeiro

It's obvious many of these Referee's are old Relics of the 70-80's, example: Cecil Peoples a legend in his own mind who has no business being an official in any aspect of MMA.

Mario Yamasaki is f'n terrible ...guy operates in slow motion ...most likely due to his obsession with throwing up hearts.

Dan Mirglisomeshit is a human highlight reel of mistakes.

Herb Dean -- was a good ref but when he started taking money under the table it showed in his inconsistencies of reffing fights.

Big John -- old relic who chooses to be the "authority" and tends to think the fight is about him rather then the fighters....he's decent and has been around for a long time but he's not perfect by any means.

Marc Goddard has shown as of late to be the best referee in the business, he understands everything that's going on at all times and makes the right calls.

I love how the lady that is talking isn't holding back lol

Big John has two of them not mentioned. First, stopping the fight after Lindland got tapped by Bustamante, then getting convinced by Lindland that he didn't tap and restarting the fight. Second, stopping the fight when Sakuraba shot for a takedown thinking he got knocked out. Inexcusable.

Some of these are honest mistakes that are going to happen when you have to make split second decisions in a high pressure situations. It's a tough job. Others are just hard to understand and make no sense. Overall, I would prefer an early stop (Werdum v Vera) to a late stop (ie. Kim Couture, Carwin v Mir).

Just to counter, one of the best refereeing moments ever from Leon Roberts
