Suppose Bisping started to trash talk Jones endlessly, to the point where Jones overreacted, and it fueled a longstanding hatred between them. Would that really make the idea of that fight any more exciting? Its still a ridiculous mismatch. On the other hand, would Anderson vs. Mousasi or Cain vs. Overeem be anything but mouth-watering, even with no trash talk to hype it? Plus, most of what Chael talks about (especially his funniest material) has nothing to do with hyping his own fights. Its just random commentary about other fighters, or even topics non MMA related.

If you think people don't take Chael's words seriously, read more threads. He has a large contingent of MMA fans that hang on his every word :

the majority of threads/posts etc. are merely people messing with the anti-sonnen crowd/mma purists.

to be totally honest with you, i watch the sport for entertainment value. i've followed the sport for around 15 years, and i find the majority of mma fighters to be incredibly boring and cut from the same mold. i don't mind if the sport is tarnished by entertainment.

Plus, most of what Chael talks about (especially his funniest material) has nothing to do with hyping his own fights. Its just random commentary about other fighters, or even topics non MMA related :

I think he's smarter than you give him credit for. in this instance, he hypes bisping and trashes vitor. he hypes bisping because he beat him. the better bisping does, the better sonnen looks. if sonnen loses, and belfort loses i'd love to see sonnen vs belfort. that fight would sell and vitor has a huge following and chael haters/supporters would tune in for the show.

What does he care? He is still the undefeated, undisputed champion of several weight classes. He doesn't give a fuck about what you say....
 
I know Bisping has some of the best cardio in the division, but I don't see where people who say Vitor is dead in the water after the second are coming from. Sure Bisping has a great tank but he's not a particularly intense or hish pressure guy by any means, I think Belfort has a chance to get the knockout(or sub) every round up until the 5th.
