A newly amended bill from a California lawmaker would require college students to stop in the heat of passion and establish verbal or written consent before having sex anywhere on campus, reports L.A. Weekly.

SB 967, amended last week by state Sen. Kevin de Leon (D-Los Angeles), would mandate that college students obtain "an affirmative, unambiguous, and conscious decision by each participant to engage in mutually agreed-upon sexual activity."

Lol...

American Universities: Where people get murdered and sex involves paperwork.

I am pretty sure you typically get verbal consent with most consensual sex.... or am I missing something?

Dave Chappelle did a skit about this when his show was on the air. I'm amazed that someone thinks that we have gotten to that point where this is actually necessary. Unless, of course, he's just doing some political grand-standing, which is entirely possible.

Personally, I'd be more into the idea of a law that requires written notice and a signature of consent if you're going to bang someone with an STD. I'm abundantly aware that it's not practical (as many don't know they are carrying one), but knowing what you're getting into would save a lot of people a lot of trouble.

I kinda like the idea of the biggest pimps carrying around loaded briefcases.

It's a strange idea but honestly, its not a terrible idea.

In college I could have very well been in some hot water. Went out to a club and back over to a sorority house with a girl from the bar. We had both been drinking but I never felt like she was out of it. Thing were getting hot and heavy and she would say, "no" but would be continually stroking my piece. I had no problem stopping as I wasn't trying to go to jail. She eventually called a friend to bring over some condoms and we did the deed.

The thing was, she definitely, at some point, said stop...but, she kept going as she was saying it. Very weird night.

The fact that it is verbal OR written really means this doesn't change much...

This is why you should film every time you have sex. That way, you have all proof you need that she was down for it.

Uh, isn't verbal consent a given?

I don't know about you, but I don't usually get a formal statement of consent in the middle of fucking sex. Just keep going unless you're told to stop.

muh rape culture

Is this the same state that wants to allow HIV patients to have the 'right' NOT to disclose that they are HIV positive to a romantic partner because its discrimmminination? Somethings off

I would never want to live in California. Their laws make absolutely no sense.

Well, anyone who knows anything about contract law regarding formation and defenses knows that this would make things way more difficult and possibly way more dangerous. Then its basically a contract for rape. It basically gives the girls no option to change their minds. And if it does, what is the purpose anyway? The same exact arguments will still be there.

Think about it, girl signs written agreement, guy starts trying to jam his dick in her ass, she tells him to stop
