Whenever I do a lot of knee strike training I have a vein or tendon in my right knee that swells up over my knee cap. I have never had a problem with my left knee and can train through it when it happens to my right even know its painful.

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and know what it is?

Not a doctor but I am super smart (at least that is what the 4 year olds in my Kenpo class say). Tendon? nah. Vein? Hope you don't have a vein running over your knee cap and once more nah. Most likely old fashipned swelling. If major than more of a water on the knee condition. What it all signifies is instability (that is what the body swelling is trying to correct). So, my question is, are you getting the angle of the strike right or are you coming up vertical and hitting in a direction that forces the kneecap in a downward direction?

A number of different things could cause this. It could be dietary related, something different with your knee, your form, or your body getting used to the strain of it all. I wouldn't be too concerned, but if you find that it hurts or persists, I might consult a professional.

Sometimes, people who begin running long distances have tendon strains from not being used to it, and people who lift can have this same problem if they don't take precautions (most typical in beginners who take on too much). Could be similar.
