I know Vader’s run in WWE didn’t live up to vinces hopes but the man was a legend in his own right. Vader was my childhood hero. I remember him beating Sting, I was amazed to see a bad guy win. He crushed a tag team by himself, I’d never seen a 2 vs 1 wrestling match. To me he was the most badass man on the planet.
He was once the biggest monster heel in Japan, beating Inoki made him an instant legend over there.
His run in WCW was the stuff of legend, his rivalry with Sting was one of the greatest in history.
While he was often criticised for being stiff I’m told that it was in part because he was trained Strong style in Japan at the beginning of his career. Vader despite being stiff (injuring a few wrestlers over the years) was a great in ring performer, I have rarely seen a 450lbs man perform a moonsault. He had a tonne of moves in his arsenal and his matches looked very real. He could sell moves as well as dishing out punishment.
His dedication and love for the business was amazing he competed right up to the year before he died.
I think the man known as Vader deserves his place in the hall of fame
