Who was the greater Cruiserweight?
That 5th round TKO loss Haye ate from Thompson will stain his record. Though he's easily top 3. with Holyfield second.
Usyk is the GOAT CW.
Don't be surprised, There's barely anything in CW, it's an underlooked an relativly new dev.
But I’m not sure who wins if they fought
I’d personally have Evander as the goat.
Prime Haye ices Usyk with ease, too hittable.
do you ever ponder or chime in on matchups that aren’t “white guy vs black guy”
Would be a great fight.
Prime CW Haye was an absolute beast. So much power and speed. Usyk is more technical and has a better chin but he's there to be hit so could go either way.
Its a very underrated division as imo 200lbs is the sweet spot between size, skill, power and athleticism (and not just for boxing).
Way more entertaining than the modern mass monsters at HW but with the very real threat of a 1 punch KO.
No, but to be honest I have noticed you tend to be bias towards the black fighter generally, even if you are a white American
well usyk is better at basically everything than haye except he's not much of a puncher. i think he clobbers haye. either wins wide on the cards or stops him late.
the fact you would think you noticed that about me means you're looking for that. if you're looking for that, that's not a good thing. i recognize greatness as greatness and a lot of great fighters are black. a lot of them are white as well. i would actually say most of my favorite fighters are white, tbh, or at least not black.
Then I apologize for assuming.... My top 3 fighters of all time are black.
Two very contrasting fighters. Both are excellent in their particular strengths. Haye has terrific power and speed but preferred to fight at his own fairly steady rhythm. Usyk fights at a very high pace, especially as the fight progresses. I could see Usyk forcing a hard pace on Haye which he would not enjoy. We saw what happens when he tires out as we saw with his first loss by stoppage against Thompson. Haye still has that one-shot fight ending power though so he is always in with a chance but I lean towards Usyk because he is the worst style possible for someone like Haye who likes to fight at his own measured pace.
Holyfield beats them both at CW.
Usyk decisions Haye 7 or 8 times out of 10. Haye KOs him otherwise.
yeah I think that’s pretty much what I’d expect. Fan of both haye and usyk but I don’t see either of them beating Holyfield
Usyk all day.. I can't stand Haye.
Would be a good matchup though.
Usyk clearly has the better resume. A matchup between the two would be interesting, though. Usyk has shown he can be hit and Haye, for all his other flaws, was a very good puncher. Usyk's performance against some of the bigger hitting HWs will be illuminating.
I have to say that my opinion changed after yesterday's dance. Haye, at least at heavyweight, was much better at inflicting damage than Usyk, and he was also harder to hit. Just compare Haye's performance vs. Chisora to Usyk's:
And I think there's still a connection - the rumor is that Wilder dominated David Haye when they sparred... And since Wilder is still a valuable player in his division, this is a good time to make Usyk vs. Wilder, and have the winner face the winner of Fury vs. Joshua.
I'd probably pick Usyk in a fight but I like Haye's punches more and would still give him a shot because of it.
Pre - Uber Evander!!! Dude was on another level... damn you Douglas stealing Prime Tyson vs the becoming of a specimen Holyfield...
