Colby only fought washed up has-beens. His best wins are senior citizen Maia, Useless Robbie Lawler and Jake Pauls future bitch Tyron Woodley.
His only legit title defense is against Gilbert Burns. Leon Edwards should be next and anyone who says anything different is delusional. After that there are Chiesa, Wonderboy and Luque. The current welterweight division is rather weak I must say especially when compared to GSP's era. Hard to build a legacy like GSP's on those names.

Most of those guys are leagues above the mma fighters in the past that GSP has faced.

Of Usman's 7 previous fights (6 opponents), 5 of them competed in GSP's era. They didn't even get close to the WW title until after GSP left the division. Furthermore, 3 of his opponents were LWs who moved up.

WW was always weak. Never has been strong at all. Nothing but zero power grapplers. GSP fought Serra, Hardy, one dimensional Hughes, and as soon as he fought 1.5 dimensional guys like Hendrix, Condit and Díaz, he got his ass beat.

Covington is the only fight right now while Chimaev and others work their way up. If Leon beats a real contender, then he can fight for the belt. But not after fouling some guy and then after losing to Nate Diaz. Yes, he lost. Nothing happened in that fight besides Leon getting finished.
