Chinese imports will face a minimum tax of 30 percent, down from 145 percent. China will lower its import duty on American goods to 10 percent from 125 percent.

Hate away

We'd all be buying RTX 5090s under MSRP if we did.
To be fair, AIB partners and pre-build companies are Nvidia's customers, not actual gamers (FE aside). Gamers can at least shop around unlike AIBs lol.

AIBs are dubious middlemen from an era when it was easier to get them to do the marketing and retailing for them.

Now that there are founders editions their purpose is even more dubious.

NY Times podcast on this subject. This was the first realistic explanation of motivation on the Chinese side that I've heard. And why they're giving in.

China is facing a gigantic housing bubble crisis right now so they're trying to shift to exports. So a tariff war with the US right now is a disaster for them.

Make no mistake, China needs the US much more than the other way around. We are the customer. And we import much more Chinese goods than the other way around. So any trade war will significantly hurt China more than the US.

And this is at the same time many EU customers are increasingly looking to protect themselves from the flood of Chinese products including their EV cars.

NY Times: A Vulnerable China Comes to the Table

- I've been reading about China hurting for years now. Trusting a american outlet on this is like trusting a chinese one.

This is awesome news now I can get my Rolls Royce for only a 10 percent tariff yeah!! lol

Most GPU volume is to AIB or ODMs for OEMs. FE volume isn't particularly significant at a market level.

If you're Nvidia, you don't want to deal with customer acquisition and support, hence you still use AIBs. That's not changing anytime soon, especially since Nvidia is getting into consumer processors soon.

great, so China now has the same reciprocal tariffs as everyone else, including our allies, & US imports to China now have a 10% tariff that didn’t exist until now.

Art of the deal, baby!

Anyway your vagina hurts so go to Reddit and get your talking points to cut and paste

care to clarify?
This is what Biden did according to the article in question:

The tariff rate will go up to 100% on electric vehicles, to 50% on solar cells and to 25% on electrical vehicle batteries, critical minerals, steel, aluminum, face masks and ship-to-shore cranes beginning September 27, according to the US Trade Representative’s Office...

Trump implemented sweeping tariffs on about $300 billion of Chinese-made products when he was in office. President Joe Biden has kept those tariffs in place and, after the USTR finished a multiyear review earlier this year, decided to increase some of the rates on about $15 billion of Chinese imports.

Biden added to Trump's tariffs by sticking additional tariffs on 5% of total imports from China. The mad man.

They are hurting and that's a documented fact. Their gigantic housing crisis is real. They overbuilt entire cities that are empty using the savings of Chinese citizens. Many of the building projects are now unfinished and falling apart.

I have to hand it to Trump.

He found a way to increase cost of living, tax everyone at once, make money for a government that won't use it for public good, while getting 51% of the country to celebrate him for doing it.
