I don't agree with this. These people are obviously sick and confused and having someone who understands this can be helpful.
It absolutely does, Ive lost 3 friends to suicide after transition and another one who became schizophrenic after hormone therapy and is now institutionalized,I have wondered if all those hormones trans people take can lead to their increase in suicide risks. I'm thinking they are. I have read mentions in the past that hormones can cause rage and self harm issues in some people. Just doing a quick internet search there seems to be many articles about this issue.
I wish the medical community had better treatments for people who believe they are trapped in the wrong body. I'm not so sure cosmetic surgery and hormone treatment is the best options, in light of much higher suicide rates trans people experience.

How do you have four friends who have transitioned? It absolutely does, Ive lost 3 friends to suicide after transition and another one who became schizophrenic after hormone therapy and is now institutionalized,
They all had problems growing up for sure, but after transition completely went of the deep end mentally it breaks my heart.
yea they still can call suicide hotlines nothing is stopping themI assume you've looked into the suicide percentage rate differences in these groups?
Yeah, it's a hat on a hat. Where are the black and Latino suicide hotlines?
I don't 3 of them are dead. How do you have four friends who have transitioned?
If you're considering suicide, is there really such a thing as "more specific training"? Unless there's a separate line for each reason (lost my job, spouse left me, being bullied, etc.) any help you give has to be general anyway, doesn't it?
Yeah, it's a hat on a hat. Where are the black and Latino suicide hotlines?
Here's a Latino one for you you fucking canYeah, it's a hat on a hat. Where are the black and Latino suicide hotlines?
You don't think someone with a shared background and or life experience might be more adept at offering counselling that might help a person in crisis or that a person calling such a line might be more receptive of counsel from someone who did ?What the hell is the existing suicide hotline if gays need a special one just for them, but somehow never did until 3 years ago?
Yeah, ever since 2022, the people at the actual suicide hotline just ask general questions, and as soon as they find out you're suicidal because you're gay, they have no idea what to say from there and just hang up.

I haven’t met that many hanging out in a lesbian bar with my friends. That’s anyone percentage.I don't 3 of them are dead.
I am a professional musician and in that line of work you meet many people from the lgbt community.
Well you are comparing one bar to a national music scene. If we want to do anything to stop trans suicide we need to start with being honest about the risks of transition and how it is not a blanket solution for your problems.I haven’t met that many hanging out in a lesbian bar with my friends. That’s anyone percentage.
No, not really. It's a suicide prevention hotline, not somebody's long term counselor. This is an "LGBT" advocacy group with a lobbying budget to get millions of taxpayer dollars to spread their gender ideology.Don't you think having people who specialise in an area would be better? It's not like America can't afford it. You can have people trained in lgbt issues, people trained in vet issues, people trained in teen issues, people trained in lonely elderly people issues.
Unfortunately America doesn't give a shit about mental health.

This is the CEO of "Trevor Project" with a salary of over $500,0000. Does this look like someone the government should be handing out millions to for mental health advice?

Of course. It's why most of the counselors in drug treatment are former addicts themselves. You don't think someone with a shared background and or life experience might be more adept at offering counselling that might help a person in crisis or that a person calling such a line might be more receptive of counsel from someone who did ?
Seems common sense to me .
Why do they need a special line as long as the people are trained.
Not a federally funded hotline.![]()
