International US seen as bigger threat to democracy than Russia or China, global poll finds

The rest of the world loves shitting on the US but loves all we provide for them. You'd all be speaking Russian and Chinese if we weren't around.
Now read it with your eye open.

"In perhaps the most startling finding, nearly half (44%) of respondents in the 53 countries surveyed are concerned that the US threatens democracy in their country; fear of Chinese influence is by contrast 38%, and fear of Russian influence is lowest at 28%. The findings may in part reflect views on US comparative power, but they show neither the US, nor the G7, can simply assume the mantle of defenders of democracy."

"Since last year, the perception of US influence as a threat to democracy around the world has increased significantly, from a net opinion of +6 to a net opinion of +14. This increase is particularly high in Germany (+20) and China (+16)."

Seems the Chinese are delusional.

"Voters in Norway, Switzerland and Sweden are most confident their country is democratic, but so are the Chinese, where 71% agree that China has the right amount of democracy."

Although maybe they think the "right amount" is none.
The Russians apparently are more realistic.

"In Russia only 33% think their country is democratic."

The EU's issues with the US are not what you think... Many EU countries would be take your side on the radical left trend in Government and Media is destructive.

Classical Western values such as free speech and tolerance need all the defenders they can find these days, so kudos to French President Emmanuel Macron for volunteering for the mission. It’s hardly an easy task, but it’s an important one. Mr. Macron is right to conclude it’s vital to France’s future—and we'd add, to America’s.

Mr. Macron and ministers in his government in recent months have been fighting illiberal and divisive philosophies they say emanate from American universities. Mr. Macron in October decried the influence of “certain social-science theories entirely imported from the United States.”

He means in particular the habit of viewing most matters in racial terms—a core tenet of “wokeness”—and his government wants educational institutions to eschew it. Minister for Higher Education Frédérique Vidal this week promised an investigation into academics “looking at everything through the prism of wanting to fracture and divide.”

If France thinks your radical left campuses and media are fucked... Time to look in the mirror

I know what it says. My original statement stands. You don't fear chinese and russian influence because the US is here. Russia would slowly take over Europe with the US out of the picture. China would begin doing the same in East Asia.

Or they're just happy with their government? not everything is black and white.

I actually don't doubt that a majority of educated Han Chinese living in the coastal economic centers are pleased with the CCP at the present time, but there's nothing democratic about the country and the population is conditioned for authoritarian acquiescence.

I agree with them but specially the democratic party. It doesn't represent us, the people and what we want.

Chinese can’t really say anything negative about their government without something happening to them. I think it’s more fear than delusion.

The CCP redefined the word "democracy", and disagreeing with their definition probably doesn't do Chinese any favours.
Under the usual understanding of the word China simply isn't democratic.
...but sure, it could be that 70% of their population think that having no real democracy is best.

No one says china is democratic, but the Chinese are okay with their current political system because of what the CCP did to them.

You're living in a bubble. And let's just say that the Russian, Chinese, and Amerian are a threat to democracy around the world. But even then i still find the US government as a bigger threat because of what they did to the Middle east, Latin America, and other countries around the world.

Wrong. The CCP says China is democratic.
Which Chinese are OK with it? The Tibetans? The Uighurs? The Hong Kongese? ...and do they really have a choice for expressing political dissatisfaction, besides emigrating?
