US releases immigrant families, won't say how many

10,000,000+ illegals and counting.

Wooooooo

you do remember when your patron saint implemented an amnesty or was that due to his alzheimers

Still waiting for dems to live up to their end of the deal and secure the border. Oh that's right, the dems dem'd and didn't uphold their end...as they promised. Sad.

Duh. When they come, what else are you going to do with them? How much do you "small government" types think it would cost to house a few hundred thousand families until they can be processed and shipped back to Central America?

My guess is almost as much as it would cost to actually secure the border.

The dream of being able to meaningfully decrease human migration is into the United States of America is dumber then the idea of decreasing drug trafficking in the USA through a War on Drugs.

One of the dumbest posts I have ever read on Sherdog.

So they would be better off in country they came from?
Nope. Because there's less jobs there than there is here. And it's usually a lot more violent, too. Plus, at least some of them will be able to displace native workers because they will do the same job for less money and will be industrious enough to overcome any legal, language and/or culture handicaps. I know I'd rather have the kind of guy that can figure out how to get himself from there to here over some snot-nosed son of a suburbanite who thinks he's too good to be doing the only jobs he's capable of doing, at least in jobs that don't require strong language skills.

That is probably the best thing they can do. Good for the administration.

Is there a reason why those countries can't fix these issues? Is there mass starvation over there? These people aren't refugees.

That’s really messed up. You like the idea of ruining lives so these people that just walked into the US could have it slightly better?

Wow that’s a lot of hate.

.

People living in Guatemala and Honduras face massive violence from criminal gangs. People fleeing violence generally receive refugee status or are eligible for it under UN Convention for refugees.

These people entered the US illegally. They are not refugees. They can apply for refugee status before entering a country.

What makes you think that is true? What is more preferable to uniting kids with their families? That is easier and much more cost effective than detaining thousands of kids, or trying to find out where to send them back.

Yes. There are some big reasons why some central american countries are fubared and won't be getting better anytime soon. But that's really neither here nor there, because they are coming anyway. So unless you are suggesting that we solve their problems over there, they are coming and the question is what are we going to do about it. Because they aren't going to stop because of some pep talk about solving their problems at home instead of coming here.

No I don't like the idea. But either way we are ruining lives, either by forcing competition or denying the chance to compete. And regardless, just like drugs, they are coming anyway so you might as well make them legal attempt to regulate it instead of creating a profitable black market.

Wow that’s a lot of hate.
No hate. Just anecdotal observation. In general, the American worker is the best worker in the world. But there are bad apples. Why do we protect them from competition? Only a marginal percentage of the immigrants are going to be able to really compete in the workforce, but those that can, and can be more productive and efficient than some entitled brat, should be allowed to make our country better.
