If USA stopped purposely heightening tensions with China just because they are such a big economic rival then there wouldn't be any issues with them. If USA didn't have nukes then other countries wouldn't need them for protection.

taiwan isn't hong kong. it wasn't given to china 20 years ago by the uk... (although, china arguably just violated those terms, so this could actually get murky if the uk presses it)
