This carrier launched UAV could be a game changer in the way we execute combat missions because it ends many of the issues currently facing 5th generation fighters by taking a more global approach with fighting in packs and AI coordinated attacks. Instead of setting up a number of armed piloted fighter jets most of the combat will be handled autonomously.

Already simulations in video games by OpenAI has shown that repetitions and behavior modeling has show tactical advantages that the computing based AI could have over human counterparts. Meaning the AI through analyzing the opponent and learning its tactical mistakes in combat it's able to create multiple battle scenarios. Also unlike the military pilot it's able to look at several situations and based on this model 1000's to millions more and give a possible solution for each one.

This could bring a level air dominance that would be very hard to top.

Only Jamie Foxx can save us

Funny enough the movie drone actually kinda looks like the real thing

The video actually makes that distinction between science fiction and science fact.

I know people are not a fan of Casey he has an interesting video of even a small drone doing insane flying maneuvers without needing control by an individual using AI.

Drone car vs pilotless drone. I don't know about the Russian in the car though LOL.

Covid, bro. Not sure that will hold true in the near future. But generally yes.

But how are we going to pay for it?
Not all times does this call for a massive increase in spending if you look at from cost per unit and later support and service. These drones bring massive cost savings to the battle field such as requiring less maintenance and does away with costly life support hardware and augmented reality hardware that alone runs into the millions. For the cost of one F35 you buy 7 of these drones and maintenance is likely similar in cost reductions. It's hard to actually know the actual cost per unit but est. put it at around 10 to 15 million per unit cost of one abrams tank is 6.2 million and we have tons of them and they very likely cost more to maintain then one X-47 drone.

Fighter pilots introduce physical limitations (G limits) that UAVs don’t have. The pilot provides the real time analysis and decision making, but once the AI and sensors can match it, manned fighters will be no match against something that will be able to pull 2 x 3 times the amount of Gs.

In before someone makes this a partisan issue somehow

Nah. Shitloads of defense spending is one of the few bipartisan issues left that Republicans and Dems agree on in Washington

And I thought those $1,000 drones were expensive....

Pretty sweet technology. It's amazing what they're able to do now a days.

Did i understand corrrctly thats its ai controlled or some shit?

My larger point was really, who are we fighting ? Why do we keep spending trillions of dollars on finding ways to blow shit up in the year 2020? Why are we constantly in a training camp?
It's just a waste of money. There is no "war" between us and the people we would be using this technology on, it's just finding more creative, expensive , and effective ways to kill people.
