US Army: ‘Super Soldier’ Genetically Modified Humans Won’t Need Food, Sleep

I can't remember what name they use off the top of my head now, first strike I think, maybe still hooah, but they have them in some MREs now. I don't recall them having the tables in the DFAC like they used to. I also want to say they were Ranger bars or some shit at first. I think they have the looks and tastes like a turd Cliff bars to hand out now, or did. For all I know they get completely shit on in theater now.

Edited: those bars are the shit though, don't melt in a pocket, fill you more than a candy bar. They do get hard as fuck in cold
Brownie first strike bars... mmm

By the time they achieve this, we'll have battle androids that will be vastly superior. This sounds like a huge waste of money if true (sounds like BS). Focus should be on making robots.

a Neo-cons wet dream come true.

This is where money will be spent. Not on cures for illnesses and other things of that nature.
Well, alot of tech advancements start out as military applications before making waves for the public. The internet started out that way.

. It seems cold to send out biologically altered humans to go kill people from another nation.

Not that a robot is much better but it's a robot at the end of the day.

"The next frontier of genetic modification is not centered around a certain fruit or vegetable, but humans. More specifically, military personnel. Genetically modified humans is the next venture for biotechnology companies working with the United States military, with the admitted goal of producing a ‘super soldier’ that does not require food or sleep to perform Olympic-style physical feats.

The genetically modified humans, or ‘super soldiers’, will even be able to regrow limbs that were destroyed by enemy fire and live off of their fat stores for extreme lengths of time.

Backed by $2 billion a year in funding, the Pentagon’s Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) recently unleashed the news after years of secret experimentation and study. The organization did not say whether or not genetically modified humans currently exist to any extent; however, it is known based on previous reports that human chimeras have already been created outside of the public spotlight. Such scientific experiments have drawn fire from scientists and activists alike, who are demanding for laws to forbid the creation of ‘monsters’.

a functioning exoskeleton that enables soldiers to run much faster and handle heavy weights. This is but a step in the direct of full modification of the genetic coding of soldiers.

DARPA, of course, has earned the nickname of the ‘mad scientist’ wing of the military for its rampant experiments in modifying life and fusing biology and technology. In working with killer drones, DARPA earlier this year was developing research into contact lens-mounted displays that could transport information from drones into the eyeballs of soldiers. Furthermore, the agency is also developing helmets in which the soldiers could communicate ‘telepathically’ with the kill drones.

The announcement ties in with the 2045 project, which I’ve covered in the past. The project offers ‘immortality’ to the wealthy elite who financially back it, and touts artificial bodies and brains for humans to achieve ‘immortality’.

This entire system, of course, ties into a larger ‘singularity’ project as outlined by the creator of the 2045 plan and others like Ray Kurzweil. In a nutshell, ‘consciousness singularity’ can be defined by a merging of all ‘transhuman’ bodies into one ‘hive mind’ of sorts. Likely a massive super computer that has full control over the minds of those ‘hooked in’.

It truly sounds insane, yet it is plainly stated out in the open. A number of issues arise from this singularity plan (not to even mention the fact that ‘soldiers’ are slowly becoming more of DARPA creations than human), such as the serious threat to humanity’s very integrity. We’ve seen the many issues regarding traditional GMOs on public health and the environment, now what about human modification?"

We need to make them like the Gem Hadar, addicted to some narcotic or else we lose control

forreal. I fucking hate taking shits man. such a disgusting waste of time.
Think of the money you will save on toiletpaper

are they also going to lobotomize them so they just automatically accept any order like simpletons? kill innocents and what not?

oh wait, they already do that - just in front of a screen using drones

fuck army

As did cosmetic surgery; it was first used to treat badly disfigured veterans of WWI.

"One area of success has been in shutting off the trigger of sleep. A drug was tested on U.S army helicopter pilots that enabled them to stay up longer then 40 hours, with their levels of concentration actually improving after nearly two days without rest."
yeah, they'll probably go insane and commit suicide afterward.

genome soldiers...DARPA working on their secret black project

navy guy? Am I right?

DARPA and what they've done is pretty interesting.
If you want to blow your mind, smoke a bowl and read up on IARPA. And I'm just talking the shit they publicize. God knows what they are secretly working on.

"IARPA characterizes its mission as follows:

To envision and lead high-risk, high-payoff research that delivers innovative technology for future overwhelming intelligence advantage."

Interesting indeed...

I have a hard time thinking this is worthwhile doing, by the time they perfect it robotics would be more efficient. For one growing limbs would take a tremendous amount of energy required to achieve, the organism will have to be motionless during the process and under deep sleep to hasten the ability. Energy requires calories, unless they have some super food to slowly give off enough energy for a long period of time and with a ridiculous amount of calories then it would be a pointless ability for the soldier. The best and most efficient will always be skill first, so nervous system augmentation followed by increased strength and endurance. However that still will require a lot of calories to achieve, so either way soldiers going to have to eat.

It would be best to augment these things for small population and for assassination missions or an elite group sort of thing. A whole army would cost way to much in just maintaining their abilities alone.

Bullshit, all organic creatures need rest and food to function. Even machines require regular maintenance and energy source. Somebody's been playing too much HALO or Warhammer 40K.

there are very few persons in the world that never slept and they don't need to. But food and water is needed no matter what. It's about energy... no being, phenomenon or machine can function without it.

I have way too many questions about this before im able to form an opinion. Sounds intresting though.
