Updated ADCC Brackets with Day 1 Results

Cheering for Palhares and Kron Gracie. Hope they can both take their divisions, doing good so far.

actually, palhares basically ripped a guy's leg off (avellan?) with a kneebah from a royally fucked up restart. ref was a doooooosh.

To be fair, Avellan could also have saved himself from that by just saying he conceded the match, as he did tap out as they went out of bounds on the original heel hook.

Either way, that was like watching a slow motion train wreck. That knee went way worse than I even thought it would.

It's tricky, because if you watch closely, that was clearly the position that the match stopped in. What was the ref to do?

as a monday morning QB, i assert the ref should just fuckin' stopped the match when avellan tapped and not set the guy up to get wrecked.

on a related note, avellan's brother just posted on atama that preliminary tests look good and they think his leg will be ok.

The onus is on Avellan and his corner to throw in the towel is he's at risk.

Refs stop the match when you tap, and if you verbally tap, you have to make eye contact with the ref and say "tap" now. Yelling just won't do.
 
How do we find out who is competiting in the absolute division and what do fighters need to do to compete in it? Like do you need to win a medal in your weight class to be allowed to compete in absolute?

Glad to see Robson Moura is still one of the elite in his weight class.

Galvao-Popovitch will undoubtedly be awesome, although I see Pablo's top game overtaking Andre's guard. It's just too bad that the winner will be destroyed by Palhares after he starts his day off by running through Lovato.
