UPDATED 9/23: Training with White Belts...

I hear ya. One time this karate or something guy (bb) comes to my class and we start grappling. I'm going slow and working with him and he starts driving his fricken thumb into my armpit and neck and all kinds of pressure point shit. Hard. I'm like, are you kidding me. Its like he came to the club to 'try a few things'. Safe to say he took a few weeks off after that nite.:)

That guy would've been out the first night.

Pressure points?

Some idiots.

I think for any of us who have attained any sort of rank in a martial art (JJ, Judo, Sambo, etc), we can all relate to the point about to make next.

I fucking hate training with white belts.

Friday nights I train Judo at a local club, but Sambo, JJ guys come over to train take downs and ground work as well. I'm a brown belt in Judo, Purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu, and wrestled for over 5 years, and what happened to me on Friday hadn't happened to me in all those years of grappling.

We were doing standing randori, and this cocky white belt bjj kid "attempts" to do a flying armbar, and ends up "kicking" me in the fucking head because he does the move incorrectly (kicked up to get his legs high instead of jumping to the correct height). Later on he apologizes and says he wanted to try it "because David Camirillo did it on TV", I wanted to put his head into a wall.

Honestly, I've trained with multiple degree BJJ and Judo artist before and have never come home with a huge knot on my head. I think I'd rather train against a BB who can tap me at will than any white belt just for the fact that white belts do some stupid shit and getting hurt by "stupidity" is probably more frustrating than getting tapped anyday. I have fought some evil thoughts the past day or so, but now I'm pretty controlled (I still want to crank his arm in newaza just to send a message).

As it is, please comment if you feel the same way (MMA/vale tudo people too).

Meh, you have a right to be mad... just don't take it out on other white belts who are respectful, humble and hungry to learn. Pretty funny story, though...I guess except for the part about you getting kicked in the face...:)

I hope you are not training for self defense man cuz as amazing as it might sound EVERYTHING is legal.

Lighten up dude. You got to start somehwere. You were a whitebelt too. I'd look at training with someone who knows nothing as a good thing. Think about it. We have no style but our own instincts, when you fight someone does this that way, and that this way, you know whats coming. With us you learn to expect some off the wall shit.. Actually thats more benificial as far as preparing for a streetfight.

Now here is a thought, what would you have said if the kid tried the flying arm bar and pulled it off and tapped you?

Would he have been cocky and ignorant and wrong to try it then?

What if he put his hands apart and the Mississippi parted?

What if he dug a hole to the center of the Earth?

What if he solved the problems in the Gaza Strip?

Yeah it would be pretty fucking amazing.

That's the beauty of "ifs"

(I expect this to be parodied by uncreative trolls :D )

good point.....some people train for defending themselves in a street fight and some are just into the sport aspect. neither is better just different.

That was a cute way of avoiding the question. But the fact is that if he pulled it off, you would be impressied instead of pissed. Its obvious that your just pissed about getting kicked in the face. Which is understandable, but hoenstly, get over it. It happens. In 5 years thats the worst thats happend to you and you want to complain about it? You sound like a stuck up baby.

If they guy was rolling on the ground and you got your faced accidentally steped on would you want to break his arm too? One of these days your going to try and do something like that and your going to regret it when you get your face pulled through your ass. Dont be a tough guy.

Yeah I've met some pretty cool white belts, some that got their blue belts in less than 3 months.

But the bad ones are supremely bad.

lol, you should train. Bye.

Typical response of someone who cant/doesnt want to answer a reply. Its ok, I didnt expect you to come up with an intelligent resposne.

I was actually betting on a *come on over here and ill kick your ass* resposne. You seem like that type of guy.

Gambling is a lose-lose situation. I'm risk adverse, and Casinos never go bankrupt. Get some life experience kid.

This thread is worth at least 100 post, any vale tudo/mma guys have this type of experience?

Dude your instructor (who hopefully is a black belt) should take you to the back and teach you a few things about respect. Your a tool get over it.

I get the impression that a lot of the people defending the white belt are whitebelts themselves that have these flying armbar dreams after seeing a Genki Sudo highlight.

But in all seriousness I do see white belts like those at my judo/bjj place... Those fuckers are dangerous I tell you.

lol good point!

Most dangerous thing is a white belt and their white belt posse (sellout007, Delta, etc).

Yeah yeah, go back to watching your Genki Sudo highlight, one day, one day...

Its not all guys he's talking about. Its the ones that come in not wanting to be taught, just want somebody to practise their home practiced 'expert' moves on. Few and far between but they do come sometimes.

Word SamboKing. I've encountered quite a few spazzy newbs in my day. They either disappear or learn some respect. At least that's how it goes at my gym. Is this the first time you're encountered someone like this?

And yeah, it's always the few who ruin it for the many, but remember this: You're doing some of those guys a HUGE service by training with them; probably even Mr. Flying armbar.
