over the summer i was consuming approximately 5000 calories a day in an attempt to gain weight. and it was working pretty good. i had gained about 20 pounds over 4 months and was feeling good. But just as i had everything down, i got incredibly sick. i lost the 20 pounds plus about 10 pounds on top of that in a matter of 3 weeks. The doctors are still trying to figure out whats wrong, as im still not back to 100 percent but i am feeling better.

I am not back to my full workout schedule, but im working construction so i am burning calories quite rapidly. I also havent started taking my protein/creatine supplements as of yet.
Heres what my diet will look like for the next couple of weeks. I know its more carbs than most of you can consume but its not a problem for me.

Breakfast - 400 Cals OatMeal. 1 Banana

Snack- 1 Apple, 1 Pear, 1 Ham Sandwich on WW.

Lunch- 1 Turkey Sandwich on Multigrain. 1 Beef Sandwich on Multigrain. 1 Bag Carrots + Cucumber. 1 Protein pudding.

Snack- 400 Cals Nutmix. 200 Cals Dried fruit.

Supper- 2 Chicken Breast, 300 Cals Brown Rice, 1 Red Pepper, 1/2 Onion, 1 Lettuce/Spinach Salad.

Snack- 1 Cup Brocolli. 1 Stalk Celery. 1 Potato

Drinks- 4 Liters Water, 2 Glasses Green Tea. 2 Glasses Fruit/Vegetable Juice
Pills- Vitamin C, Multi-vitamin, MSM, Fish Oil.

You guys probably will complain about all the carbs, but ill transfer some of them out when my stomach can handle the protein powder.

Looks like a pretty solid diet, but I was a bit confused, are you currently trying to gain the weight back? or are you still waiting to get healthy before you start to gain? I ask because you are not eating enough to gain wieght right now, but you are looking pretty solid to maintain. I, being a hard gainer, eat a diet similar to yours, but I have two shakes per day on top of that, weighing in at 600 cals each. I also consume quite a bit of peanut butter/almond butter and eggs, which I would suggest you add into your diet.

Im slowly feeling better, so ill slowly start adding more to my diet. But at this point i am doing zero cardio and zero weights apart from what i do at work. Im just under 4000 Calories with the diet i just posted. So thats definetly enough for now.

Im trying to gain the weight back simply because i was by far the smallest center in my college basketball division last year.I was 6'6 190, playing against 6'7+ 220+, i was getting tossed around on defense quite regularly.
I was up to almost 215, but after starting training i would be at a playing weight of about 205. So not bad, but relatively small compared to the people i would be playing against.

Oh man you are that big? Then I take it back, you need to eat way more. I would add in a lunch#2. And put olive oil on everything, if you are looking to boost calories, olive oil is the stuff. And it's good for your stomach/intestinal tract to boot.

^ yah..olive oil. Or get some flax seed oil or something and put 2 tbsp of it on your shakes..and drinks.it lubricates your joints/good for heart..and it's a good source of healthy fat. Overall, it is a soid diet plan :D.

ive tried flax seed oil and that is a no-go. i honestly can eat almost anything, but flax-seed has ruined several of my shakes and salads. i just cant down the stuff. i know ill have to start eating more but for right now im just above my maitenance level. When i start training i need well over 5000 calories

Your diet seems to be pretty solid for what you need seeing how your not working out at the moment, don't worry about the carbs, there is no reason to limit them provided your active enough to use them.
