On NBC's #AdamekCunningham ratings: At 6 pm, right before the broadcast ended, the ratings registered 3.2 million viewers. Huge.

Good news for NBC and boxing and as theovernight rating for the Adamek-Cunningham fight drew a 1.2 rating and 3 share.

I've heard that's about 1.8 million. Very high for the timeslot which isn't a great one.

Also that's just the overnight. Remember the one on CBS went from 1.5 million to 1.8 million after the overnight. Could be talking 2 million if they ever release it.

For the first time in over a decade, one of my friends asked me about boxing because of that broadcast.

In reality these aren't big numbers for the network, but they are big numbers for that particular timeslot and the low quality of the card. It makes a good filler for NBC and it might make them consider getting better fighter plus a better timeslot. At the least this throws out the theory that there's no place for boxing on network TV anymore. Some people used to say that even if you put someone like Broner on network TV he'd only get around 1.5 million people to tune in. It displays that there is a wider audience out there for boxing that isn't being reached through HBO. Boxing needs to find a way to tap into those 50 million boxing fans who don't have HBO or Showtime.

I just hope these networks know that guys like Adamek and Cruz aren't actually meant to be big names.

Whats it matter though, so long as the fights are entertaining? Some classic fights were just unknowns filling up broadcasts.

To put this in perspective, boxing managed to draw primetime numbers in a horrible timeslot, on a Saturday, with little promotion, using two fighters no one heard of before. I haven't seen ratings for other shows in that timeslot on the day but usually they're in the under 1 million range.

They were taking on a big college BBall and football game too.

Not bad. I wish they would put on some better names though. An HBO type card on network tv would be awesome.

I don't watch much TV myself, sometimes I got on a netflix whoring spree and watch 7 episodes of a certain show in one sitting...but I didn't even know until fight night that this broadcast was on.

So you are correct about how little promotion it received.

Honestly, I would miss so many fights if it wasn't for this forum. Certainly every Klitchko fight.

Do 3.2 million people here even heard of Adamek or Cunningham?

It would be shit numbers for the UFC, but it's incredible for boxing.

Put it in the primetime slot like the UFC had and it's easily beats all but the first show.

Anyways... here's an espn article from Fat Dan.What I like about this is actual NBC reps commented on it.
