On the next [two] cards I’m just going to highlight a few fighters I’m excited about and that you need to keep your eye on (sorry kids this list won’t include Artem Lobov).

Hakeem Dawodu -http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Hakeem-Dawodu-158725

This guy is super explosive. He has quick and powerful hands in the pocket and can quickly fire off a 2 piece combo without the biscuit. He’s also got some dangerous Muay Thai where he uses elbows viciously and regularly uses the Thai plum ala Anderson Silva. Not sure what his ground game looks like but he sure as hell makes up a lot for his overall athleticism.

He’s facing Danny Henry on March 17th @ UFN London

The next two guys you’re probably already familiar with having already made their debuts. Nonetheless, to those who have been sleeping —

Calvin Kattar - http://m.sherdog.com/fighter/Calvin-Kattar-23782

The man made a name for himself on short notice and completely dismantled Fili on about a weeks notice. Then he faced another prospect in a prospect killer fight and showed some VERY clean boxing technique and with it, he showed why they call him ‘The Boston Finisher’ by knocking out Shane Burgos. The man has an impressive array of jabs and great timing and fundamentals overall. His grappling seems reactive but a bit still unknown.

He’s facing Renato Moicano, who deserves a honorable mention on April 7th @ UFC 223 Brooklyn.

Zabit Magomedsharipov -

Standing 6’1” you’ll be hard pressed to find a taller featherweight that moves the way he does. This guy has it all: wrestling — BJJ — striking — all in spades. He’s AS athletic as his smaller FW counter parts, even attempting a ‘Showtime Kick’ in his debut, so he’s gonna be a major problem for the division. He’s practically ready right now to challenge for the belt.

He’s facing slaughter to the lamb Kyle Bochniak on April 7th @ UFC 223 Brooklyn.

Nice....Where's Ortega doh?

Zabit might get that strap. Guy is a BEAST.

He already fought.

I addressed the criteria in the opening post.

On another note, there won’t be any FW fights in the next 2-3 cards after that, so I believe these are the only 145 prospects to watch as far as upcoming scheduled.

dont really consider ortega a prospect anymore. hes proven himself when he beat frankie

Fair enough guys...Carry on here.

FW & LW may be the two most stacked divisions on the UFC.

Good post TS for those who don’t know about these guys. I’ve had my eye on Zabit since he made his debut and same with Kattar, both really exciting prospects.

I watched a couple of Dawodu’s fights when he was in WSOF, although I thought he had good stand-up, I wasn’t completely sold on him. But see he went on to win a couple fights after the few I had seen. Maybe I’ll catch up on those and have a different opinion.

No shit.

Edit: I will reserve judgment on the first dude until I see him in the UFC.

The Ortega bit was sarcasm ? I hope lol

Ortega is a future champion imo. Him and Zabit, I’m pretty certain of it. Zabit vs Max is a fight I want to see regardless of belt or not.

For someone outside of the UFC, he hasn’t fought too many cans. Overall record of his opponents is something like 60-20 or so. I think he’s got a good learning curve with his gifts so I’m expecting him to make it to at least Top 10. I’m sure some losses are necessary just like anyone else.

Jeremy Stephens just can not get on the casuals radar which is weird since he knocks heads off, no matter what kind of fight or with who it is going to be violent

He’s not scheduled to fight though. Again, I’m mentioning names and dates as far out as the next two cards. It’s highlighted in red.

Thanks for the heads up! Nice thread TS. Ive become a casual fan over the last two years and needs these kind of notice threads from the hardcores since UFC is hiding skilled fighters on the prelims which I dont watch anymore.

Nice thread, man. I've been really looking forward to Hakeem ever since I read the UFC signed him back in November or so. Thought he might replace Aldo against Lamas, but glad he's getting a slower start to his UFC career.

I believe he's a fellow Albertan (adopted one, obviously), I'll be on the floor in the O2, wearing my Oilers jersey and cheering him on!

Even though Calvin beat him, Shane Burgos is a super high level prospect too. He will be back.

I'm fully on the kattar train, but moicano is stylistically a pretty tough match up for him. I'm pumped for that card.
