To be honest I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this, if theres a better place for it mods please move it.

Someone new has just popped up, and its an unusual tooth ache. I've flossed the tooth very good, and feel no pain or anything at all, brush it, poked around with a tooth pic... can't find the pain spot.

However, when I am doing intense sprints, and really "pounding the pavement" it hurts. I counter the effect I bite down real hard and it pretty much goes away. But if I keep my jaw relaxed the left side, top of my mouth, hurts.

Looking at this pic, it would be the #6 on the top left of my mouth.

The main reason why I posted it here (stand up technique) is it also hurts when I get punched in the head. Now the odd part is, if hit in my jaw area I don't feel the tooth pain. But If I get nailed in the fore head or the sides of my head, the tooth hurts. The pain is pretty much centered inside the tooth... and the only way I can duplicate the pain is by doing hard sprints or getting punched.

I've only felt this for 2 days now, and not really sure what to think about it. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing before? I've never had a cavaty before in my life, maybe its a first, but then again I've never had one before so I'm not sure if this is what it feels like or how it works. I guess I should also mention that the tooth is a little "off centered" but its never bothered me before.

Now I'm sure some of you thinking "go see a dentist", but I ship for boot camp in 12 days and I don't want to not ship because of some very minor tooth pain that only effects me when I'm being hit or hard sprints...

You can get tooth pain when your blood pressure goes up(sprinting), but not sure why it happens when you get hit in the head.

Hmm had no idea about the blood pressure thanks, but what really confuses me is it does't hurt when hit in the jaw, mainly the forehead.

I had the same thing when running.
I was also having these intense headaches, and sometimes I got pain in my EAR that seemed to be radiating up from my tooth.
This tooth of mine was also slightly offset and about where you said yours was.
What happened was because it was slightly out of alignment, bits of food had worked into the slight gap, and over the years caused some decay.
There was basically a pin hole on the surface of the tooth but the decay "tunneled" down like a gopher into the nerve of the tooth.
A weird side effect was that my ear (directly above the tooth) hurt, and hurt deep inside. I'd actually get a buzzing sound in my ear believe it or not.
Anyway, I finally got a root canal and instantly it solved all my problems. Everything cleared up.
A dentist can solve your woes dude. It sounds to me like you may have a cracked tooth.

Imagine that your head is covered with a network of nerves, like a roadmap of New York. As odd as it sounds, there's a nerve that goes from the root of that tooth to your forehead.

You need a ROOT CANAL dude. The root canal gets rid of the nerve ending in your tooth. Once that nerve is drilled out, you won't feel a thing. And root canals do not hurt. They take a while, but they are not painful.

How long did you deal with it before you finally got it taken care of? I've only felt it for 2 days now, and the "pain" is very minor, but its there. It won't dramatically increase in pain over the course of a few months right?

Also thanks a lot for posting, exactly what I wanted.. someone with first hand experience.

EDIT: Also do you know if orajel (spelling) would fix the pain? Or is it too deep under the surface, or inside of the tooth for this to work?

Well, mine got progressively worse over maybe 3 months, and then I couldn't take it anymore (I mean, I literally had a loud buzzing in my ear and headaches all the time). A friend of mine had very similar symptoms (buzzing ear and headaches) and went and had his wisdom teeth pulled and everything cleared up.

At first I didn't know it was a tooth problem. I thought I had migraines or miniers ear. Turned out it was just a decayed tooth.

If you do have deep cavity, unfortunately it won't get better. Bite the bullet (no pun intended) and go see the dentist.

Yeah man, just go see a dentist. He'll take an x-ray and see wheather you need a root canal or not. The treatment by itself is not very expensive (nor painful), the crown that you might need is a different story...
