I'll watch this when I get home
I will watch later. One of the best rap songs ever made:
I agree... from the music, the song concept, the rhymes, even the low budget video... all classic.
Just finished watching it, was good. Never really knew much about the Geto Boys.
Damn. It must feel good to be a gangster....
Will watch tonight
Great find TS. These guys are part of the soundtrack of my youth.
Now watching my favorite duo EPMD on Unsung.
The wholesome Geto Boys, thanks for sharing.
Here's a video breaking down how the beat was made.
The only song ever that I have preferred the clean version. Not that it cusses too much, it's just the replacement lyrics added so much to it, the cussing seemed like filler after I heard it. Fucking love it by the way. Just haunting.
Their self titled album was dope as fuck.
And Scarface's solo stuff was the shit.
The fact they took Bushwick Bill's photo from the hospital and used it as an album cover is gangster.
Scarface is so amazing on his own, Guess Who's Back with Jay-Z is one of my favorite songs ever.
thats cuz J Prince is gangster AF. need a doc on his life alone.
That's crazy... at the time everybody thought that picture was fake. lol
Shit people thought it was fake for years! lol
But once the true story got out and people realized that yes, Bill got shot in the eye (because he is pretty dumb TBH and was fighting with a girl and from what I understand, wanted her to kill him) and that was a real picture of Bill's wound, it became a more mainstream album.
Everyone knew how talented Face was, but the entire album is awesome.
Yep... I put their first Geto Boys album right up there with NWA's "Straight Outta Compton".
The TRUE pioneers of Southern rap
listened the shit out of this in high school.
And this was THE album that put the movie Scarface into rap, but it made the best use of this movie
I am still trying to get the unfucked up version of gangsta of love
