He's but a lad by HW standards.

When you factor in that he's Russian though, then his chances of coming stateside go down exponentially.

Don'tale Mayes (5-2) is fighting Nkemdirim Oti (2-4) in the main event at V3 Fights 71 on November 17th in Memphis, Tennessee. This will be Mayes first fight since beating Mitchell Sipe on Dana White's Contender Series this past summer.

Mayes needs to get that record to 8-2 and he's in. This is a good start, but he will need to fight better guys after this one. Winning records at the very least.

    Quarterfinals (second stage) was today.

    Here are the results:
    • [IMG] Murat Gugov (4-1) def. Rizvan Liev (1-1) [IMG] - KO/TKO, 1:10 R1
    • [IMG] Ismail Sagov (3-1) def. G. Abdulkadirov (1-1) [IMG] - KO/TKO, 2:16 R1
    • [IMG] Daniyal Elbaev (7-2) def. Magomed Bakhanaev (1-1) [IMG] - Unanimous Dec
    • [IMG] Adlan Ibragimov (2-0) def. Amin Ergashev (6-3) [IMG] - Unanimous Dec
Gugov in my opinion is the favorite to win it all. Small to heavyweight, but very fast, strong and well rounded. He's 28 years old. His only loss came 6 years ago in his MMA debut.

It looks like Chase Sherman (11-6) is back to the regional scene after a 2-5 stint in the UFC. He's fighting Frank Tate (6-5) whose coming off the biggest win of his career against Contender Series vet Austen Lane. Island Fights is a good promotion for Chase to fight in. If he's able to string together a few wins we might see him back in UFC.

Not surprising Sherman's been released...….Island Fights have got some STINKERS in that division, Sherman could easily win 5 in a row there and be called back......however......he's pulled a beauty in his debut. Tate can crack, hard, and Sherman's chin isn't great.

I hope Vanderaa wins for the sake of continuation. Potts winning is a lose-lose for the HW division.

This is the debut fight for Esteban Rodriguez (6-1 Amateur). He's fighting KOTC veteran Alejandro Santiago (1-5). Santiago's record isn't great, but he does hold a win over former KOTC Champion Brad Burrick. There's not a lot of Heavyweights in this part of the country and they'll definitely bring him up slowly but I could see him getting put in some bigger shows soon.
