So if Gus gets past Johnson and the rematch happens which of the following options do you think is most likely to happen: 1. Jones wins by dominant UD similar to the Jones Evans fight 2. Jones wins convincingly but narrowly in a very close, evenly matched UD. 3. Jones wins in a UD or split decision that is controversial enough so that many people end up thinking Gus won again. 4. Jones completely wrecks Gus like he did Chael and Shogun and it is not even a struggle, he does not even break a sweat. 5. Gus wrecks Jones and gets a brutal finish. 6. Gus wins convincingly but in a close fight. 7. Gus wins in controversial UD or split decision victory. 8. Gus wins by dominant UD victory, taking all 5 rounds.
I would pick either 2 or 3 at this point since Jones is still getting better and has not reached his peak but Gus is Jone's smartest opponent by far and also does not seemed to have peaked either. If you pick 1 or 4, then I would be curious as to why.
Jones comes in determined to out grapple Gus and gets a submission. Don't think it would be easy, but I think he's a little annoyed at getting taken down in that fight and struggling to get the TDs.
I think Jones get a slightly more convincing decision this time. Jones will try to prove that the first time was him underestimating Gus.
I don't know. Gus is the second best LHW in the world, I don't think it would just happen because Jones wants it. Probably late round.
Jones will wreck him in a rematch. Gus isn't getting better at the same speed Jones is. Not to mention, hardy fucking har if Gus loses to Rumble and renders this thread completely irrelevant.
Fair enough, and I am glad you are not presuming that Jones wins without a struggle like he did vs Shogun. I'm seeing quite a few posters suggesting Jones wins the rematch as easily as he did that fight and wrecks and finishes Gus without a scratch on him. At least, they are implying that they think that. Which does not make much sense at all, given Gus's boxing, his rapidly improving wrestling and just how much smarter he is at fighting than all of Jones' other opponents.
Tough call here....I wanna see what Gus looks like vs Rumble. First fight I took Jones to win, but Gus did well. This one im not sure yet....too early
I think Bones wins via sub. He looked lost with Gustaffson's movement and footwork. He found a way to win without finding any 'major' answers during the fight. A spinning elbow was the only difference. That being said: Gustaffson had a rapid rise from the Davis fight. He remains faster than Jon & still possesses the superior boxing. If Jon can't get the takedown in the rematch Gustaffson will win & it will be convincing. IMO however Jon will make the necessary adjustments, take Alex down & finish the fight. I knew Jon would handle Cormier [I thought Dan dodged a tough bout with Rashad]. I'm not so confident with Gus.
The thing is, Gus to a lot of fans comes off as even more unlikable than Jones because of his incessant whining and the fact that he got away with some fucked up shit in his past that he would probably be in jail for now as we type were it not for his country's obscenely soft treatment of criminals. That is why I wonder if maybe the guy who is destined to beat Jones is someone who is gonna end up eclipsing Jones when it comes to annoying the ever loving fuck out of MMA fans. Yeah, I like to ponder these things. Maybe it is just me.
