ok guys, spill it!
all of you studying at U of S, where do you train? and how much does it cost?
I checked the husky's website, they said wrestling.
I will be moving there soon and I NEED my bjj fix :)

In case you have any Idea of dojo's besides alliance please state it,
but I would really appreciate the U of S students/staff around here to give me where they train, cost, and personal assessment.

Thanks

Why would you go to study somewhere with no BJJ? When I was looking for universities to do my Master's the first thing I looked for was if the city had BJJ. You can't care that much about Jiu-Jitsu if you've signed onto a course without checking whether there is BJJ in the area.

It is more like a phd with a full scholarship.
Please stick to helpful comments.

is that in Saskatoon or Regina - I think you might be in luck if it is regina not sure about Saskatoon though.

Regina:

http://www.infightcanada.com/

http://www.wileyjiujitsu.com/

http://www.completemma.ca/

http://www.martial-arts.ca/MA-Project/Regina_Brazilian_Jiu_Jitsu.htm

Only one I've heard of though is Infight academy

All of those clubs are in Regina. U of S is in Saskatoon.

Scheers Martial Arts is led by the only black belt in the city. They are under Marcus Soares who is an 8th degree Coral belt under Carlson Gracie. Awesome Bjj club. They are on the southeast side of Saskatoon.

Aliiance Martial arts is also a great club with a strong MMA team and have great wrestling. They are led by a purple belt under the Infight banner. Alliance is on the west side of the city

Any other wuestions , shoot me a pm. I have slot of respect for both clubs and will give you unbiased opinions.
Edit: graham of Alliance recently got his brown belt

I'd still go elsewhere if it meant 4 years without BJJ. Whatever man, it depends on what you find more important - obviously, for you, that's not BJJ.

I've always liked your posts.

But dude come on...you're coming off as being condescending.

Flow'n has disappeared from the face of sherdog earth :)
Will be in Saskatoon in 5 days, anybody there now?

And anyone training in alliance? I am seeing scheers have changed their schedule to mostly no-gi. I prefer Gi tbh.

I really hope you're kidding - you'd choose something as important to your future as a masters based on whether there is BJJ in the area?

Like most folks, I chose the place I did my graduate degrees first on the reputation of my future advisor (single most important element), then on the reputation of the school (closely tied into the advisor in most cases). What other activities they had (like wrestling, judo etc) I didn't take into account at all.

And I don't think I know of a single graduate studies student who did it differently. I wrestled on the team as an undergrad, and even the strength of that team was much less important to me than the reputation of the engineering school (not going to make a living as a wrestler). As a graduate student there's no way I would take it into even the slightest consideration. Not because wrestling wasn't important, but because graduate studies is about your whole career (and supporting your eventual family etc).

I think if BJJ were more important to me than my MASc (or whatever), I'd just have gone to Brazil instead of doing a masters. The chances are, you're going to be working hard enough on your masters that you're not going to have much time for BJJ (or anything else) anyway.
